Yes. Although certain answers on google ..... will say otherwise. Facebook marketplace is still the number one platform, aside from selling locally. Now if your just selling Chinese knockoffs ,then ebay may still be an ok place to sell. But for an individual, part time seller, or hustler, its the absolute worst. ebays numbers have ONLY went down consistently for around 5 years now, maybe longer. But I'm sure that if you're searching this,it's because you've noticed your 0 views and 0 sales, right? Personally I barely list anything on the platform anymore, there's really no use. Especially when ebay is not even close to being the #1 selling platform. Things like Etsy and Facebook marketplace are killing it,where as ebay.... Is being killed. But it's mostly the fault of the people who run ebay, not yours. Although people will tell you that's it's my fault,or you're fault,it's clearly not. Nobody likes ebay anymore, and ebay doesn't like you. Items that sold in the hundreds daily, will never get views or sales, especially if you don't use promoted listings. But they sell locally and on other platforms constantly. My listed video game console gets 4 views in a month on ebay, while it gets sold immediately in person. Daily. But years ago on ebay,it would also sell immediately. People don't suddenly dislike video games,or retro games,or consoles. My pictures aren't suddenly horrible, and my pricing is still spot on. So how is this even happening? Because ebay is a dead platform. You're better off having a yard sale or getting a booth at a local vendor mall. That's how I've been mainly selling for the last year and its great. Not everyone has that luxury though. But yes ,don't worry, ebay is still dying it's slow death. It's going down with disney ,AAA gaming, "mainstream" news, streaming services. All things that you probably think are making millions right? Wrong, some of them are infact losing billions.(Not all companies or games are this bad,I understand) Yes,these companies and platforms are not successful. Meaning no,they do not make money. This includes ebay. Thats not to say that money isn't coming in to these companies,it's to say that they are bleeding more than they have, struggling to stay above a yearly loss or worse numbers than the year before(consistently),and failing miserably. Even twitch, the largest video/gaming platform where some of their users make millions each years. They are losing money, even though video games are a 150 billion dollar industry. Disney lost billions last year, and the year before, and the year before...Numbers have tanked, and are still consistently tanking here at ebay. Woke is broke, dinosaurs are out of touch, and scammy practices are being out more often and more swiftly today. Nobody is falling for the **bleep** anymore and people are smarter than these ceos think. Google lies about these things, news outlets regurgitate the same garbage, and ebay trolls will be here to tell you otherwise.

@krazzykats wrote:I sold 2 cars and a couple of large business items on Marketplace recently for over 30k. And someone is coming to pick up another large item on the 24th for $400...it works well with large, unshippable items for me.
And the shippable stuff stays on eBay. 😁
Yeah, for large and costly items where the profit allows ample room to compensate for hours of one's time... Even then it's not easy, maybe if you're a car dealer or you somehow have an angle on things, for myself I still find everyone making offers on what to me is already my lowest price.
The assumption that somehow sellers price high so as to leave room for negotiating is false at least in my case, there is simply no way to adjust a price in that fashion because doing so means nobody even comes in with offers. So that said I literally price my items as low as I can go, and then people still want another four hundred seventy thousand off that, on top of some sort of guarantee that I'm not ripping them off, and can they bring it back if they're not happy with it?
Sometimes sales happen within 2-3 or 4 buyers, and they actually show up and have the money and are ready to buy. They literally look at the item, pay me the money, load it up and are gone in less than 10 minutes. Those are the buyers, make me wonder what have I been thinking?
Other days it's message after message from what I perceive might be "challenged" people, if anyone ever shows up, finally some shady characters do and it's hard to understand their street slang and I wonder if I'm about to have a gun pulled on me... Not everyone is like that either, and maybe it's about meeting demand but I think experiencing several difficult transactions will make most of these early settlers and new land discoverers change the way they view Marketplace vs ebay too.
Also, Marketplace allows buyers to rate sellers which adds another whole angle to the equation.

I didn't take the time to read the 61 replies as I'm fairly certain the pro-eBay cadre came out in force on this topic.
I can say for my own use, FBM has outsold eBay so much I stopped listing certain items here. I only started using it this year and wish I had done it sooner. I sell there for less than eBay because I don't have to recoup fees. All local sales, cash or Venmo. I've sold to buyers in PA, NY, OH, WV and MD so far. Sometimes they come to Pittsburgh to buy, sometimes I'm travelling through or near their area and we work it out. (I'm on the road all the time)
Every FB buyer I have sold to was decent, no problems. I still use eBay for stuff that will sell too slowly or possibly never in a small region, and to acquire new customers.
eBay could become "404 not found" today and my business would be fine. Five years ago, it would have been a disaster. For that, I say congratulations to eBay's leadership for making the company irrelevant.

"I can say for my own use, FBM has outsold eBay so much I stopped listing certain items here...."
Glad to hear you are happier with your sales. But I think the emphasis is on "for my own use"....I know sellers who have found Poshmark sells better than ebay for their stuff, but I've also heard the opposite. Same with every venue, including FBM.
Reselling is the original "diversity and inclusion" sort of thing. All sorts of sellers, working with all sorts of circumstances, with all sorts of different goals, inventory etc. One size doesn't fit all. What works for seller A might not work for...might not even be possible for...Seller B.
So, when someone says he's doing great on ebay, I'm glad for him. When someone says he's doing great on another venue, I'm also glad for him (or her). But when people say : "No one can sell well on site A", or "Anyone can do great on site B...." well, those generalizations are far too broad for me. I know of sellers who have done very well on ecrater, for example, a site many have never heard of, and some have tried and failed to get a single sale.
That's why I usually say " It's 2024. There are more choices than ever for resellers. Find what works for YOU....but don't assume everyone will find the same site or the same mix of sites."

I guess it depends on what you sell and where you are most comfortable doing it. Good luck to you!

So many fakes from China and India and they get to ship REALLY CHEAP. And you get to make up the difference by paying for the USPS to deliver their crap. A seller in China or India doesn't care if he only makes a dollar on an item. His cost of living is a tiny percent of what you pay here in the USA.

hers my $0.03
everyone on youtube says to get it on amazon here
anyone I talk to locally will suggest amazon
why did amazon recently become the big place to get things...1) the name....amazon.....ebay, amazon means big ( at least thats how people think ) , and ebay means what............its a subconscious mind thing
anytime anyone any where suggest amazon, I tell them the sellers sell on both ebay and amazon....to which they reply that they dont trust how you pay using ebay.......I only use paypal myself.....not using it opens you up to fraud and scams
a lot of people dont know how to get paypal and dont realize it is a secure payment option made just for ebay, ( at one time that was true, now they have included other places )
I also tell them that amazon hires people that will work with scammers to somehow buy items with your account, withdrawing money from your bank, and then returning said item....like playstation cards which are digital transfer
this happened to me, then when I tried to get my money back, after I proved I didnt buy them, they wouldnt put the money back in my bank account............they wanted to give me gift certificates....to which I told them I dont want them , that I wasnt ever going to buy through amazon again...I said I have never had money stolen through ebay, where I had been buying throgh for years and after just one year with amazon...money gets stolen....... still they wouldnt put the money back
I told the indian accent woman that I believed one of the workers there was working with a scammer or did the scamming themselves, because those people can get access to my financial info, where ebay people cant
anyways, I have sold very little on ebay but have sold everything within a year of listing, not because they were in demand or rare, a lot of it depends on the way you take pictures and writing the description....judging on how you did your post, you didnt use any paragraph structure, no commas or periods ( I often dont use periods or apostrophes ) and you probably didnt use spell check ...which most any webpage or ebay listing uses marked with red lines underneath the word and all you do is right click to find the right spelling
and proof read read before you post
the only reason I am replying is so others replying can use my experience with both places ......because the OP seems like they are an ego maniac, possibly narcissistic and maybe a gaslighter...( I really hate the word gaslight and only use it in extreme cases ) ...... ( Gaslight is based on the play Gas Light written in 1938 by English playwright Patrick Hamilton (1904-1962) and performed first in London in 1939 before opening in New York under the name Angel Street in 1941 ) had to do it.......LOL
OP also might think the world revolves around them, thinking everyone thinks the same as they do....which is why they thought the mash clinger thing might sell ....it is a collectable that not a lot of people are looking for...I might buy it...I loved mash when I was growing up, I'm 54 years old as of november 17 2023
so as a review
anytime some one says get it on amazon, make sure to comment that seller also sells on ebay through a secure payment company called paypal
use lots of pictures and a good description with good paragraph structure...use punctuation marks ...proof read before posting
dont assume because you think it will sell ...that it will, it might not
be polite in your reply when someone messages you...and someone said that FBM allows rating the seller
well ebay allows rating the seller and the buyer, its called feedback, that why being polite is neccesary
I dont know if amazon does this rating thing
one thing I hear from people a lot is " I buy it on amazon " meaning most people think it is amazon selling it, they dont know it is from different sellers...when I explain this, they always tell me " no, amazon sells it "
amazon has their own stuff they sell I think, but mostly it is different sellers like ebay
I do know amazon allows fake reviews...people get paid to make a 5 star review of things that they never bought ...ebay remarks whether it is a verified purchase somewhere in the review
anyway, thats my $0.03 ...throw me a tip with $0.05

I agree with you. FBM has several ups & downs but still create more sales on Marketplace. Wish I started on FBM soon, too. I will make attempts will eBay still. No serious effort unless I notice a hot trend for something I have available. If everyone, who contacted me on FBM, followed through, I would do AMAZING. However......95% of them are useless. Do not make any effort to buy after the "it is available' msg. I would guess 15-20% are no shows. Still better than items collecting dust on eBay. 60-80 sales per month, on average, down to less than 10??? Steadily! Like you hint at, the pro-eBay crowd will say I'm to blame. "Sell items that people want at prices they will pay." Do they actually believe everyone who sells possesses just items the majority wants? There is, at least, 1 person for every item but it comes down to having the money or seeing it available online. There was a time I sent several items to auction. All unsuccessful on eBay. After they took their 30%, I still ended up with $1100! Old Beehive hockey photos that no one wanted here sold for $700 (my share). PLENTY of people staying away from eBay & buying elsewhere. Just have to spread out. Good luck. 🙂

I tried 4 yard sales last year. First one in April was great! Almost $800. Next one was $200. 3rd was $50 & last one was $20. I believe the 1 in April did so well because people were eager for them. 2 guys came from an hour away. Stole way too cheap but money was a necessity! The annoying part is it's on a busy street & cars were lined up at the lights. No one would bother checking it out. I wanted to egg the entire city! 🤣

I have been selling on EBay for 24 years and this is the worst it has ever been. I checked out where most of the items are coming from and China is in the lead and India is gaining. Also I check on which category has the most items listed and the porno category has the most. Maybe EBay should change their name to ChinaBay, IndiaBay or maybe even pornoBay. Or all three Chin-Indi-pornoBay. Sorry, instead of EBay Progressing I see degeneracy instead.

Cool. Sales have been great and eBay has been dead since before it even came along. People have been saying it since the 90’s.
same for amazon, poshmark, mercari etc… etc…
go on any selling sites boards and you’ll get the same ol’ sayings.
I myself and plenty of other sellers on eBay are doing just fine. Sounds like a YOU problem, not eBay.

I have to agree with OP. I have sold on ebay for over 5 years and, clearly, sales are down. I'm selling mostly bonsai pots, vintage etc. Nothing has changed but my page views and my sales are down. I believe the numbers clearly show that ebay is not doing as well as it used to.
