Re: Is It Time To Surrender??

Good Morning,

Surrender? No. But I am making changes and HOPE not to be here next year.

I'm simply too old and I'm tired of Ebay selling.

I want to enjoy time doing other things.

It was a game changer when my husband had a quadruple bypass in April and had complications.

I want my house back. No more piles of stuff to list sitting around.

I enjoy selling and sell more other places.

One of the biggest things I'm NOT going to miss is coming here to learn and keep abreast of policy discussion and reading a bunch of divisive and insulting political nonsense blaming one side or the other. As citizens of this country we are all at fault in one way or another. No one person can fix this countries problems magically and the problems didnt just begin. Someone up thread said this forum is full of doom and gloom. I dont know about everyone here but theres enough.  Depression and doom and gloom is contagious.  And I dont need any of that. Equally I'm tired of reading Ebay is all at fault or conversely Ebay is never at fault. Just like with this country absolutes do nothing to get to the root of fixing problems.

The majority of my problems selling here are my fault. I didnt read policy. I didnt adapt to policy. I made honest errors listing. I didnt keep abreast of trends in style or trending prices. I took poor pictures. I didnt invest time in listing daily. Etc.

Ebay is at fault for some glitches, failure to advertise, some silly attempts at "improvements", lack of maintenance, and poorly thought out policy changes that had unforeseen effects.

None of which I can do anything about other then adapt and change or sit like a big old bull frog and puff up spouting hot air.

Re: Is It Time To Surrender??

My sales have been pretty good up until the last 2 weeks.  Since then sales have tanked and I am down 35% from last month.  Summer is always slower.   At this rate I'm lucky to make a sale a day and usually a low price item.  Hope it picks up soon.  Just have to wait it out.

That's nice that you don't know any people who are struggling day to day. I do.

You are not yet thinking about it, but you are contemplating thinking about it? 🙂

At the rest of sounding simplistic, I suspect that sellers who are making money will stay and sellers who are just giving money to eBay will leave.

Re: Is It Time To Surrender??

meme6253,
You haven't told us your full story, in this thread, whether eBay is your only source of income.

Sellers (me included) probably can't hire help to take to their business to next level.
Paying health insurance premiums out of pocket is brutal past age 50.

Why not put eBay on part time status and get a day job? I did, then quit a few months later with the Great Resignation going on. I am selectively looking for a better new job.

I know the feeling.  Ebay needs to Undo the changes they did that messed up this site. Ever since they messed with the categories it has been down hill all the way.  Not even getting view with sponsored listings.  what are they doing?  Now add in the economy  with the outrageous prices of everything and the gov adding in taxes on things we already paid taxes on ..

Yet another eBay seller confusing state sales tax with income tax.
