I don't know but I just understand the attitude of some people on this forum. Perhaps I am just a more positive person in life. I'm not selling like I used to at all, but I am still selling my items. I have a basic store, downgraded last year because of the drop in sales, and I more than make up for paying $21.95 within the first few days of each month.
I don't use promotional listings and I don't pay for any listings as I have my basic store. For me personally I will stop selling online once I cannot make the $21.95 a month to keep my store going. Otherwise, I am still getting rid of my items, still making extra money for myself each month, and still enjoying selling online. Best of luck to all....

Why not add something that appeals to more people? Last week, I felt like sales had died. Tomorrow I am taking thirteen packages to the post office. It never dies, it just ebbs and flows.
Great Moms turn them off first.

Slow times usually: slower due to inflation (folks do not have that expendable income) and what ever eBay has done with he search and categorize changes... it adds up..
Wait a bit and see is my advice.
Might diversify in selling methods, and locations.

Sales are down but I will ride it out.
Low sales are better than no sales.
Hopefully things will pick up.

I know the feeling. Ebay needs to Undo the changes they did that messed up this site. Ever since they messed with the categories it has been down hill all the way. Not even getting view with sponsored listings. what are they doing? Now add in the economy with the outrageous prices of everything and the gov adding in taxes on things we already paid taxes on ..

It's like your dwindling stocks in the stock market. You only "lose" when you give up and sell out.

If my sales came to a halt (they have not but have been on a steady decline for the past 11 months) I would probably still hang in because........
(a) It would cost me nothing to stay around, (b) my eBay "workload" is directly proportional to the amount of sales (no sales, no workload).
On the other hand, if I truly needed the income to survive I would still dabble with eBay but given the current historically low unemployment rates I would be considering regular employment (something I've avoided for 50 years).
Into your life it will creep

I'd like to hear their 2nd quarter results; it may be a good time to buy their stocks then.

I do not understand your logic. If you are only making a couple bucks now throwing in the towel will put you at zero bucks? Even if nothing sells the item can still sit there for one day when a buyer comes along.

When I can offer high quality items that are of value to customers, I have no problem with sales.
These days I seem to be spending a ridiculous amount of attention/time on getting around ebay tech issues. I can't even really address my selling strategy.
The big box stores are apparently also overstocked and expected to drop prices.

Sales have declined for me only because I needed a break and summer is here. I haven't listed anything in the past couple of weeks. Fortunately, I sell rare coins which have always seemed to hold their own even in a recession. Hard assets are always in demand even in financially troubled times. One of the advantages of selling rare coins is that I don't have to look for different size boxes. 🙂 Padded envelopes(one size fits all) or free Priority boxes are all I need. I have thought about boxing up everything and sending it to a large auction house as the prices realized is hitting all-new time highs of the material I sell. Sometimes reaching several times what I sell for. Like I am selling certified coins for $300-$400 and I see they are realizing over #1k at large auctions. I usually go by what I have in them though and like turning over an item and not creating a museum. Good luck all!

My sales drop 50% on the summer. June, July and August. It happened 2 years ago, and last year. This is a trend in my case. I might start looking for a part time job to ride out the summer. I will continue to list items for sale. I am not giving up on selling, just yet.
Good luck on your selling journey.

Well, I know you don't want to hear this, but I'm having my best year ever, on eBay & I'm not new. So, not only am I not thinking of quitting, but I am looking to expand into warehouse space or something similar.
I will say though that this weekend was VERY slow with only 3 sales so far for the whole weekend. Summer is usually my slowest time, but it's been hopping, until this weekend. Of course I did not have time to list much last week & that's always a factor.
eBay Seller since 1996
