Invented fake reasons for returns

Several times in my illustrious long E-Bay career, I have had several return requests for items because they "smelled". I can not even begin to describe my dismay over this because I am blessed/cursed with a super strong olfactory sense..I have a nose like a bloodhound and can smell anything and everything and NOTHING gets sold if something has an odor OTHER THAN LAUNDRY DETERGENT..My last escapade was with a LE SPORTSAC purse  where buyer claimed it stank so much they had to leave it outside. UH...I don't think so. And you all know the outcome. REFUND the lying, prevaricating inventing conniving buyer. Got the purse back today and voile~~fragrant free...This, of all the egregious misadventures I have had with buyers is always the worst because a seller has no way to disprove odors..How I wish Ebay would just negate this claim and save us buyers the heartache and aggravation and loss of funds. Rant over

My thread is just a little venting about dishonest buyers. We have all had them. I had one person claim a stain on a jacket. I KNEW there was no stain. They took a picture of the "stain". What they did was wet the area to give it a darkened spot. Came back pristine. It's these sneaky characters I'm ranting about. ..we've all had em.

Yes items can be returned for any reason. They don't have to be true. A lie is just as good.  Add a bit to all your prices to cover such loss. Common thing to do is sales.

 lawyers  rule the #1 spot  for lying since the invention of lawyers. you dont think they would lie to get their client off the hook on a charge seeing as how they are being paid to do it.  say  a lawyer has two clients that are arrested on the same charge . one pays him $75,000 to defend him and the other smuck pays him  $25,000 because thats all hes got. who stands the best chance of either beating the rap or even getting a lighter sentence. its all about the  dollar.  you pay him 6 -7 figures you most probably can get off a murder rap. happened lot of times before. they will lie thru every tooth they have if necessary. they practice it every day so they  should be experts.

I don’t understand sellers on here who gets bent out of shape when someone buys something and wants to return it because they changed their mind. I offer a NO questions asked FREE returns on mine dime if they are not happy. Do I get buyer remorse returns? I sure do but I’d rather have a buyer choose “I changed my mind” for the return reason than create INAD return which dings my seller ranking. 

Also, buyers expect hassle free returns these days including myself. I personally will not buy anything from any merchant that doesn’t offer free returns.

I think you mean Sellers.

Years ago I bought a Beacon blanket here.  It REEKED of cigarette smoke.  I didn't open a case though I should have and decided to try washing it.  LOL...it fell apart in the wash.  That'll teach me.  I didn't buy anything here after that for a long time.  I have a very poor sense of smell, so if I say the blanket reeked I mean my neighbors probably could smell it.

No, two or three a year.  I find it frustrating to be lied to. That is the point of my entire entry here.

We as sellers all run a risk Period by selling on EBay, I myself also have a NO RETURN POLICY to which I have had 2 in the last 2 years. I have considered changing it but my take is if you offer it there is more incentive from the buyer to just want to do a return because you invite it. We all know that in the end they can always return whatever they want due to Ebays 100% money back guarantee and the buyer is always right policy.

Let’s assume that everything you wrote is 100% correct (which isn’t really an assumption that I would make).  How would eBay know that you are telling the truth?  How would they know that there is no smell - perhaps undetectable to you, but not to the buyer?  If you can come up with the right answer, kudos to you.

That’s why I stopped selling for a while , super aggravating . I make a point now to include , pet free smoke free home. When I wash something to send out I use scent free detergent. They come up with all kinds of **bleep** , hope this helps .
