In 2021 eBay will no longer allow the sale or purchase of Coins, Motor Vehicles, or Bullion

Managed Payments is to be fully implemented by 2021 requiring ALL Sellers to be enrolled. Among several Items that will NOT be allowed in te Managed Payment System, are, Coins & Paper Money, Motor Vehicles, and Bullion. Obviously, if sellers can't sell them, then there won'tbe any listed to purchase.... Dahh!

Oh really? And just how will someone be able to list in these "remaining" categories, if they're forced into managed payments which forbid their being listed? Duhhhh

If you sell black Americana coins you're really screwed.

In all seriousness, I feel so bad for sellers that only sell coins and paper money and there's a lot of them out there. Imagine losing your business overnight.

This is why relying on other platforms for selling is so bad and why diversification is so important.

One year ago 90% of my sales were via eBay. Now it's down to 70% and shrinking. My goal is to get it below 25%

To be clear.............ebay has said many times now that coins/bullion, etc sellers will NOT be put in MP until MP is able to handle those sales.  They will be able to continue to handle payments thru Paypal..........

So it's not a case of those sellers losing their business.........overnight or any other time.

"Are you sure it's "some States"? USPS doesn't allow it at all to anywhere. UPS & FedEx do but require a special agreement and another pile of rules."

We are in OR and get wine from all over, and the admin has relaxed the rule on hard alcohol also because of the pandemic so we order from a company in CA. Because the alcohol taxes here are outrageous even with shipping from CA it's the same, and yay, for Bloody Mary's and Champagne.

Gotta get through this somehow, and it's better than Clorox....lol. Don't jump on me, I'd never mix Clorox and vodka.

As a coin, currency and stamp collector I am really hoping that the sales here of those items continue.

I have no idea what is going on here. Can someone explain in plain English. I sell raw coins on eBay. Can I continue after 2021? Let’s keep it simple

Yes.

If MP doesn't support the category and the seller has a history of regularly selling in one of these categories, they will not be forced to join MP.  But if a seller just occasionally sells in one of these categories, it is likely they will be going into MP at some point.

I think the other poster was more relating their post to the recent changes this week in Black Americana stuff.  It took everyone by surprise and some sellers were really hurt by it.

Ebay isn't a political site.  It is a company like any other.  We rent space on their site and we have to abide by the rules they set for the site the own.  If you expect Ebay or any other company like Ebay to be ran by democracy, you are going to always be disappointed.

I did some snooping the other day on Amazon.

They do not allow coins or paper money and have all kinds of restriction due to copyright, etc.

Do some reading and you might have a better idea about Ebay restricting them at this time.

If I can find where I was looking, I will post it.
