I sold personal items to pay my mortgage?  I recently lost my son who was adopted and on survivors bennifits.  3 days before the 1st on ..SS

Put a government hold on my account. Therefore my mortgage was not paid.. I had no other choice but to sell personal items.. well I was informed that I will not get my money except 73.00 Dec 3?? I have 221 I need it to put toward my mortgage..how is this legal? With SS now Ebay I will not have enough funds to pay my mortgage.. this is illegal to dispense peoples money in increments?? **bleep**.. I've been selling for 22 years with ebay.. once im paid I plan on closing my account.. this is not an auction any longer..sellers get their items, we get controlled payouts.. this is socialism at its beginning

What is a government hold, the IRS? If you have not been selling consistantly, yes, Ebay will hold your funds, theres nothing illegal about it. If refund cases are started, Ebay rather those refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs. Sorry for your troubles and your loss.

Actually, it a private company using the freedom offered by the US Constitution to operate its business the way it wants to.

Just as you are a private citizen using the freedom offered by the US Constitution to choose how and where you sell an item you own.

The freedom to operate a business as you choose.

The freedom to choose who you do business with.

The freedom to own personal property.

The freedom to sell your personal property where you want, when you want, and for how much.

Isn't that the OPPOSITE of socialism?

You say you've been selling for 22 years but this is a brand new account just opened 3 days ago. 

While we empathize that you're selling to pay your bills, ebay has its members to protect and without a proven history (at least that I see), they limit newbies until you've proven yourself.

the world need not know your personal woes but now that we do, yes we can offer you our kind thoughts, prayers and support, but we can do nothing about eBay policies. Ebay's site, eBay's rules.

As sellers we adapt, adjust and carry on OR go elsewhere...

I take it this is a checking account and not an eBay account.

I assume a SSI account is what you are talking about. Such is that you were not reporting your income??

What do you think we users of eBay can do for you.

My son was adopted, he was receiving survivors bennifits 

He passed on the 26th of Sept 

Oct 2,  I received my bennifits and his, they SS Put a hold on his payout through our bank stopping all bills. Etc... they told me I was supposed to report any death so I was at fault. My son committed suicide in that time 3 days to one 1.  what parent could even think about reporting to SS that was the last think on my mind. And to the gentlemen who said this is a personal woe it is not! I lost my son and my home going into foreclosure...that 200 was desperately needed to pay last month's mortgage. When the hold was placed on my account , I had automatic payments coming out. Hence

Mortgage bills etc..all came back as insufficient funds, I was charged 25.00 from those companies and  35.00 from my back.. those charges took what ever I had in there.. my personal woes is life changing.. I'm 73 years old I cannot work due to disabilities... and an unfair remark claiming this as just a personal woe..I'm a widow on SS

that's my income.. SS just sent a letter telling me since he died 3 days in Sept..I'm not entitled to that bennifit because he died before the month of September  even though he lived 26 days in that month..I filed a waiver request and explained my son killed himself, it was not expected ...my life is over without my son and possibly my home...

Go and see your bank and to Social Security today and see if they can help you with this, there absolutely nothing anyone here can do to assist you.

Yes, looks like you handnt sold anything for more than a year, until your recent sales, thats why your funds are being held. If you go over your Users Agreement, its all in there.

While your situation sounds dire and profoundly sad, this is an eBay issues related community, not social media, and we all have our cross to bear.

Responsibility rests on each one of us to keep up with rules, regulations, etc of any business enterprise or entity we receive money from.

Im so sorry, thats horrible. When I lost my dh last year, his SS was held until it switched over to me..it takes ninety days..but I understand it can be rough if you are not expecting that.And SS will hold or retract any benefits paid after a death.
