I sold personal items to pay my mortgage? I recently lost my son who was adopted and on survivors bennifits. 3 days before the 1st on ..SS
Put a government hold on my account. Therefore my mortgage was not paid.. I had no other choice but to sell personal items.. well I was informed that I will not get my money except 73.00 Dec 3?? I have 221 I need it to put toward my mortgage..how is this legal? With SS now Ebay I will not have enough funds to pay my mortgage.. this is illegal to dispense peoples money in increments?? **bleep**.. I've been selling for 22 years with ebay.. once im paid I plan on closing my account.. this is not an auction any longer..sellers get their items, we get controlled payouts.. this is socialism at its beginning

I think she means there is a hold on the Social Security benefit, perhaps while the agency determines an adjusted amount and / or calculates an overpayment associated with the benefits her late son was collecting from SS as survivor benefits.
Of course, a lot of Americans don't like Social Security at all, and have fought it since it was first proposed, because they consider the program both unconstitutional and a from of socialism to be deplored.

Yes Maxine that is exactly what happened. He passed 3 days before his bennifits on October
So they took only his,, when they put the government hold on my account, the fees absorbed payouts for mortgage etc.. He passed 3 days before the end of September , they don't care if he lived 26 days before the end of the month
I have to pay Sept back .

Are you the original poster of this situation??
If so you owe the government the money received after the death of the individual you collected.
Law is as it is. Seek legal advice.
As for others reading this post: such in the past has been a scam, to get folks to send them money.
Just saying.

I am so very sorry for your loss. No words can change that pain you are feeling. You are going through too much right now.
Take a moment to let go of the things you can't change. EBay has its payout policies. Social Security has its time frames.
You may be able to modify your home loan, but know your states foreclosure process. It usually takes some time and can be turned around.
***Don't make big decisions during a time of crisis.
I wish for you only to find a safe place to get clarity and to find resources to help you find some sort of resolve.
I am sending you all good things in hope that you find some solid ground.
With love and hope,
Grandma

Yes, I know. I went through all this when my husband died, just five months shy of our 50th wedding anniversery. His monthly benefit had already been paid in, too, and had to be returned. Then I had to go in person to the local SS Office to get my benefit swiched to his, higher amount, et cetera.
The SS matters were among all standard, routine, rather dismal stuff that one has to deal with after a death. You'll get through it, believe it or not, just as all the rest of us have. I know that seems small comfort, but it is all the comfort I can offer.

Unfortunately, no one on these boards can assist you with your current dilemma(s). We can be empathetic and work to try to understand, but this is a peer to peer selling board.
(14) eBay for Business | Facebook
Reach out to e-Bay customer service on social media (use the above link).
Reference your "selling" account and write out a small summary of your issue(s). No idea if they can assist or not, but likely your best shot with the current parameters.
Landing page on the above link has a "message" button in the Upper Right. Click on message and send them a private message with the info outlined about. In that info include your phone number and email so they can contact you.
Good luck and sorry things are so complicated on this Monday. Let us know how things turn out.

Well, actually.
EBay is a business not a government.
This is capitalism at its peak.
The Survivors Benefit is a government payout? That is "socialism" -- "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

So very sorry for your loss. You must remember SS or social security benefits are 1 month ahead, so what has to be returned is your Son's October SS and since he was paid for October in September and didn't live in that month it must be paid back.
Now for the bounced check fees, most banks and credit unions will reimburse you those fees if you explain what happened. Call and ask for a service representative at your bank.
The mortuary should have contacted SS for you, this is a service they offer.
You won't lose your home over this situation, go talk to a senior center representative, church social worker or suicide survivors group, all towns have someone that you can talk to and they can help make calls and even assist with some funding, food bank etc.
God bless, it's going to be rough but please be strong.

When capitalism does things people don't want it to do, they call it 'socialism' (or communism). I doubt there is even an inkling of any understanding of the irony in this.
OP - you have a senior services agency where you are (I looked it up) - that is one of your first contacts. Try to get some solid advice on this - selling bits and bobs on eBay to patch things together is laudable and I respect that, but it's not going to really help you - you need some good help and advice, and particularly some support - you don't have to go through this alone.
