Let’s have a discussion - without complaining and negativity - what is one thing you would like to see changed about the Ebay platform and why? What would the change do to help your business grow? Don forget the last part - the why is everything.
I’ll start - I would have Ebay require onboarding for new members when they want to sell items. I believe this would help with a lot of the new seller painpoints and bring a positive light to Ebay in general. It helps my business because it builds trust in the community - most trust equals more sales for myself and everyone else. I would also love to see Ebay explain their why during seller updates. I get that I need to require 30 day free shipping for top rated discounts but WHY is that going to help my business. Some facts would decrease the anxiety for most people.

Management. From the top down to the managers who oversee new features and bug fixes.

We got plenty of that now, plenty of managers in charge of all kinds of new positions, they come and they go.
What I would like is to see is managers that have lots of actual real world hands on experience in the area they are managing. Like a real long term seller in charge of the marketplace, instead of some college graduate that read the chapter about selling in one of his textbooks.

Onboarding is totally a term I learned from my days in corporate America 🤣 I agree with the backend update. Ebay2.0🙏

Maybe this is a great opportunity to reach out to the seller and give them some tips on cleaning their doll? If we all work together to improve the quality of listings by building community we can gain a lot of trust with our buyers. If you see a listing that really needs improvement I would just send them a DM with some tips in a very nice way 🙂 I know when I’ve gotten kind messages with suggestions from other eBay sellers in the past it’s always been a positive experience.

I think a mandatory video tutorial for both buyers and sellers before anything can be listed or any bid placed or item bought. Pehaps with a multiple choice quiz at the end, failing at which would require re-doing the tutorial.

im glad i read all the replies before i posted, especially the tidbits about the e-packages.
I think that any idea to limit the number of near-identical, knock-off brand and/or diplicate posts would increase visibility for the sellers who actually DO mind the rules and proper ethics.
E-packets do make it very hard for domestic sellers to compete with importers when it comes to very light-weight merchandise, and unlimited free listings may be contributing in the duplicate/bo-bo brand mass listings, but i would think that better staffing the help hotline and email inbox would go a long way in helping new sellers get their items posted, and would help inform ebay corporate of abusive listing practices.
I was searching for a quality, used microphone earlier, and literally HALF of the 20,000 or so microphone listings were for knock-off BM-800 studio microphones- most from us shippers. the microphones are a little too heavy for the e-packs, so they ship them to domestic distributors. Most were either labeled or manufactured to appear as legitimate BM-800 microphones, but they were ALL knock off brands. i had to wade thru 10,000 **bleep** listings for brand-new doorstops before i found that quality, used microphone.

I guess e bay figures if a seller offers free returns then buyers feel more comfortable making a purchase which would in turn increase our sales . However there are pros and cons with the theory . It may help increase sales but it also may encourage renters . How much of a risk a seller is taking when offering free returns has a lot to do with the type of items they sell and the costs of shipping them. Tulips

Too many times I buy parts for my work, only to find that it’s coming from overseas and takes up to a month to get here. Yea, eBay is NOTHING like it was when I first joined in 1998. I also missed the wanted section.
Boy I hate that . Sellers who claim to be located in the U.S but really aren't . Shouldn't that be against e bay policy ? Tulips
