Buyer filed a claim with her credit card company claiming she was charged an incorrect amount for her purchase.
eBay added sales tax to the item price at checkout before buyer paid.
I am in managed payments. eBay handled the dispute and won. Buyer did not receive a refund. I did not lose my merchandise.
Good for me 😁

This is why managed payments will be a good thing. Ebay is in the position to handle the chargeback as they have access to all the transaction information. They have skin in the game because they have the money and don't want to lose it.
Paypal doesn't have any skin in the game. They get paid by processing fees. Paypal doesn't care, they just want the $20 chargeback fee.

Common sense finally prevails.......but for how long?

I'm glad it worked out. As I said in my post on your other thread about this- as long as you met eBay's criteria for seller protection then they would find this claim in your favor regardless of what the buyer's financial institution decided.

For the existence of Ebay I would imagine. Think about it:
With managed payments, Ebay has ALL the information - transaction info AND payment info. Ebay can now see chargebacks and determine exactly if it is a legit chargeback or not. With Paypal doing the processing, Ebay cannot see any of that payment info. They can't keep a record of previous buyer chargebacks as they are not privy to that information. With Paypal, the seller is the merchant, but has no information either, so the seller cannot fight.
With managed payments, Ebay can see ALL of that, because Ebay is considered the merchant and will be allowed to fight a chargeback - and they WILL, because they don't want to lose that money. Ebay will have direct evidence of buyers who are abusing chargebacks and can block their payment methods (if they choose to do so.)

Seems sellers will lose part of their protection if they do not buy shipping through ebay. Another cash cow for ebay, another vulnerability for sellers who do not comply. It's amazing how far they think this stuff through, I can see the wheels turning months before the changes come into effect.

Why do you say that? I have won several chargeback claims since enrolling in managed payments and all of those labels were purchased from a third party shipping supplier.
There is one big catch for winning a chargeback claim, however where you purchase your shipping label has nothing to do with it.

I feel better now....
It's a good thing ebay has a long history of always making the correct decisions.

It will get out there eventually but I'm not going to be the one to broadcast it to scammers reading here. I'll PM you.

Charge backs for INR or Fraudulent use via Paypal are extremely easy to win, simply upload a copy of the shipping address that matches the transaction address win win, don't let them tell you 30 - 75 days, call in read out their own seller protection policies regarding Charge backs and ask them to close the case, I've done several of these over the years win every time.
Knowing the protection you have regarding Charge backs is key, quote them over the phone by verse if you have to, upload your evidence it's a no brainer, whether Paypal ended up taking the hit i've no idea, but it has never cost me a dime.
