Hi, I specialize in selling My Little Pony items and was on (for a couple of years) a FB page for My Little Pony Buy, Sell and Swap. Recently, whoever was in charged kicked me off/blocked me from the page. When I asked why (they didn't even have the courtesy of telling me in a message that I'd been kicked off), they said it was because I was buying ponies and selling them for a profit. I asked if this was against the law, or even the rules of the page. (When I buy ponies using this page, I sell them on eBay.) I don't understand why the entire concept of flipping is "wrong." Many people flip on eBay and make this their entire income stream, and I don't think it's either illegal or unethical to do so. I buy from willing sellers, sell to willing buyers, never twisted anyone's arm to buy my stuff, etc. I just don't see how I'm hurting anyone.
Why would the page moderator (or whomever) take such issue with this? What do the rest of you think about flipping items?
I honestly think this is just capitalism and completely legit. If people don't want to buy what I'm selling, all they have to do is say "no thanks."
Because I'm blocked from the FB pony page, I can't really give more information about it.

My suggestion is to contact FB customer service. This is an eBay community discussion forum. FB customer service would know best.
Good luck to you.

That's a private page and the admins of it can block you for any reason.
If they don't like flippers that's completely up to them.
It's better to keep what you are doing to yourself.
Many retail stores will ban you if they know it's for resell.

If you are asking if you did anything wrong - I’d give a big nay. But, the info is limited. A bit like having on blinders, TBH.
If it were me, I’d have a buddy saddle up and trot over to that FB site and ask about the rules. Maybe the mane issue is that they want to keep the group more social, and having someone in there for profit brings down the level of fellowship.

@dolphinsaraht why ask ebayers about facebook rules? ask facebookers instead.

Who specifically on FB?

It's specifically a buy/sell/trade page. And if I'm not supposed to buy ponies to flip them, no one ever said so. How do you respond to that?

I like your puns, btw

I didn't specifically say I was flipping items; I guess admin just figured it out.

Each FB Group is different, and FB itself isn't going to concern itself with your situation.
My guess is, while it sounds like the Group is a buy and sell group, it could well be that this particular group is aimed at collectors (the "Swap" in the group's title suggests as much). I would guess the idea is: A group for collectors to buy and sell amongst themselves...that is, members of the Group.
That might not be explicitly stated anywhere, but the Group's mods can do pretty much what they want. I would also guess someone you bought from---who maybe gave you, as a fellow collector and group member, a good deal---was unhappy to discover that you turned around and sold it on ebay. They complained, and you are now out of the group.
I would suggest you accept that and move on, but, of course, do whatever you wish.

Right out of the gate, I agree that you should be fine to buy on a buy/sell/trade FB page. Maybe the admin does the same as you and doesn’t want the competition? Maybe an admin that isn’t mentally stable?
Who knows? Maybe just make a second FB profile so you can buy.

Wow - I would never have guessed that MLP was that desirable. Next time Sakic asks what is in demand, I know what to tell her.

Many of these Facebook groups are intended for collectors and dealers/resellers are not welcome whether they say so or not.
Facebook has not found a way to monetize these pages and so they probably will not do anything in response to your tale of woe.
