I screwed up and got 2 labels switched and sent the wrong item to 2 buyers. One buyer is communicating and of course the one who received the more expensive item, one they didn't buy, isn't. Am I just out and have to refund the one buyer? It's my mistake and I'll have to live with it. One item was $50 and the other $999. Big difference. Does ebay help with this at all? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the help. I'll get it handled. You all have a Merry Christmas. I just gave mine away. LOL

You can often find the buyers phone number in the Order Details page but I think it gets deleted after a few days. Maybe check and see if it's still there and if it is, you could try phoning them. There's a chance the buyer hasn't checked their messages yet.
Something I always do to avoid what happened to you is this: First, I always prepack any of my items in their box and leave them unsealed so I can put a packing slip in it when it sells. Then I write a 2 word description of the item on a small piece of masking tape and stick it on the outside of the box. After the item sells, I add the buyer's name to the appropriate piece of masking tape that's already on the box. Then when I print my labels, I make sure the name on the label matches the name that's on the masking tape of that particular box before adhering the label to it. The masking tape can then be easily discarded once the label is on the correct box.
Best of luck with that issue. I hope you get it resolved.

If the buyer sends the item back, please let us all know. It could make all of us feel good at the end of the year.

This has always been my biggest fear. Just got to hope they will return the items. It really is a bad situation when you have such a high dollar item. Personally I would offer a incentive to both buyers to return the items. Either way I would do my best to make it right and hope you got two respectable buyers. Hang in there. I have heard stories like yours and the buyers have always done the right thing.

Well, I wanted to let everyone know how it went. The buyer that bought the $1000 item was not helpful at all. I understand his frustration, but were all human. I refunded his money and he refuses to return the wrong item. The buyer that received the $1000 item was more than helpful and returned the car. Bad thing is I can't replace the item he wanted. I've refunded and am sending him a "care" package to try to help make up for my mistake as well as all the trouble he went to. Again, I want to thank everyone here for trying to help out. Just happy I at least got the expensive part of my screw up back. Here's to honest people. I can't thank him enough.

Deleted. Posted before reading the entire thread and see it has been somewhat resolved.

On mercari somebody accidentally sent me a much more expensive item. I did the right thing and contacted them. They gave me a label to send it to the correct person and promised me they would refund me (mercari has much less options) and send me my item for free on top of it. I was really excited about my lot of Pokemon cards I bought from her storage unit but of course they absolutely never showed up and she blocked me once I sent back the extremely expensive item.
Karma always has the last say.

eBay isn't going to do anything.
You made the mistake so yeah you have to refund the buyer..

Sorry but it's all on you. I have an absolute rule: NEVER process multiple orders at once! Once one has been labeled and sealed, then it's safe to go to the next one.

I'm glad it was resolved that you received the more expensive item back! I think that's the main thing!
