I need a text message code to sign into my Ebay accounts

This just happened.

I have a primary Ebay account & 2 days ago I opened a 2nd account.  Each time I go to sign in, I have to go through a verification process.  And EB never recognizes my passwords.  So I end up having to get a text message with code to go to the account.

What am I doing wrong?

I sign in one account and click "switch account" and that's when the merry go round starts.

I just talked to another EB rep and they  walked me through some steps, think the problem is solved.

Re: I need a text message code to sign into my Ebay accounts

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.

https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/

If when you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant, type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.

You may find it easier to use two different browsers and stay signed in to each account in a different browser. This can save you from having to sign out and sign back in repeatedly.

If you find it easier to sign in to one account or to stay signed in to one account in another browser, that might be an indication of a problem with the eBay cookie in the other browser.

I tried that with 2 different browsers.  Didn't work, but will try again.  I talked to CS and they were no help.  We tried everything and I still need a text message code to sign in.

EB is just screwed up, honestly.  Whoever designs their website should be fired.  There's no reason why I should not be able to "switch accounts" and just sign in without all the merry go round.

TW did message me.  They referred me to "hack account" department.  I called the CS online and we went through a series of ways to sign in w/o a text message code.  I'm stuck with this method until I can get a "real" tech person.

Do you mean the Security Department?

How did you contact Ebay?  Did you do it from the Ebay site or did you search the internet for how to contact Ebay?

I suggest if you want to get it fixed you seriously consider what I said in my other post.

Re: I need a text message code to sign into my Ebay accounts

Something similar has been happening to all my accounts, occasionally it requires a text verification but most of the time it makes me fill out CAPTCHA codes or "click here to prove you're not a bot". It only started happening about a month ago.

@ the art of war:  Yes.  Yes.  That's it.  I have to click to prove I'm not a robot and then do the Picture ID thing.  I can't just switch accounts and sign in with a password.

This is ridiculous!

I'm going to write corporate direct, but I doubt anything will be done.  I'm online w/ EB Twitter but they keep referring me to the Hack Account team.

Re: I need a text message code to sign into my Ebay accounts

@mam - I went through EB Twitter and they referred me to a 1 - 866# and the "hack account" team.  I talked to a guy and we spent time trying to get around the text message code.  It didn't work.  Nothing works.  I'm writing corporate.  If this is something "new" you would think they would let sellers know.

This shows  showing what's happening.  It's like being on a merry go round.  Even when I enter the correct PWD, even when I enter the correct text code, I still have to go through CAPTCHA.

@liawri-75

Did you happen to have signed up for eBay "Spendable funds" on your first account?

Check your account set up and see if you have it set to require a two step verification.

No.  No.  No.xxxxxxxx

I'm starting to think this has to do with my using a DESKTOP vs. the mobile app.
