Buyer requests a second partial refund

I sold an old laptop to a buyer that was purchased on the 30th of January, delivered February 3rd. Buyer messaged that the item wasn’t as described (specs weren’t as listed, which I didn’t realize at the time), but as it would only cost $60 or so to upgrade/replace the parts needed, I gave them a partial refund for that amount. This was within the 30 day window.

Now on day 60 (April 4th), I get a message that the battery isn’t keeping a charge past 30 minutes and the buyer wants a second partial refund, although it isn’t as much as the first one.

I’m not a regular seller on eBay, and I know I should try to make things right. I probably should have been more diligent regarding the condition of all the parts of the laptop before selling. But theres something about a second partial refund that doesn’t sit well, since I can’t verify their claims. I had a bad experience with an eBay buyer recently so I don’t want to have another one. Should I offer the second refund or no?

No more refunds.  You're going to end up paying this guy for the laptop he bought from you.  He's had two full months to sort things out.  Be polite in your response but explain to him, that per eBay's MBG, the window for refunds has passed.

In the future, protect yourself by offering full refunds on returned items.  Until you get to know your buyers, avoid partial refunds.  Too many people who ask for them are scammers.

Buyer requests a second partial refund

Hi @or5t91

Due to a current glitch on this forum I cannot see your items for sale, your sold items or your Feedback history to confirm you are in the US.

Aside from that, the option is yours at the end of the day.  You sold a used laptop, my older laptops all had batteries that needed to be replaced over time as they would not hold their charge.  If you did not state issues like that in the listing then you are at the mercy of the Buyer.

New Sellers are targets for scams and it is possible your Buyer is just nickel and diming you to see how much of a discount they can get off the item they purchased.

Sounds like this buyer is trying to take advantage of you, You stated you sent them a partial refund, You are not required to send an additional refund, But as you also stated you need to be more diligent with describing condition of your items, To help avoid any future issues like this.

It is one of those whack-a-mole glitches ... it is sporadic but I've seen it off and on for over a week now.  at times when I click on a member's Feedback number I get what is pictured below and when I click on their View listings link nothing shows up.
