Just checked my return label charges. I'm now charged for returns filed under 'just didn't like it', 'doesn't fit', 'ordered by mistake', etc.
I had my return settings to "buyer pays" for all remorse purchases. Was there a change to make me responsible for all return charges, regardless of the reason?

All 222 item you currently have listed say "Free Returns".
Free returns means the seller pay for the return shipping, regardless of the reason.
"Free Returns" means "no cost to the buyer" not "eBay is giving sellers free return shipping labels".

@seymourssi
It depends solely on the reason the buyer selects from the dropdown menu. For example, if they pick a "not as described" reason, and simply state it doesn't fit, you will be billed for the return shipping label.
If you have "free returns" (as you apparently do from viewing your listings) you pay for them all regardless.

Yeah so Free Returns isn't really free, on that note neither is Free Shipping.
I was surprised by this as well.

There is no setting for 'buyer pays on remorse returns'
It's either 'accepts returns/ buyer pays' or 'Free Returns' (which as stated, you pay for ALL return shipping labels)
You need to recheck all your listings.

You may be able to deduct the original shipping when you process the refund when the reason was remorse..... at least I could, but the last one I had was some months ago..........

I looked at your sold items as far back as mid September and they were all listed as "Free Returns".

You do offer Free Returns.
Who did you think paid for those returns?

My goodness how many returns are you getting? I have had ONE in eleven years and resold the item two days after relisting it. Then again I do 95% of my sales in person NOT on-line.

Go to Seller Hub> Site Preferences (under shortcuts on left)>Return Preferences.
I have this rule to approve a return automatically and set to "Buyer pays shipping". I guess this setting is overridden by my Business Policy settings. No matter ... I looked it up and must offer Free Returns for 30 days in order to get a 10% Final Value Fee credit in the TRS+ program.

Um, you do realize that's 10% of your final value fees right?
Never saw the worth of offering free returns for $1 out of every $100 sold. It effectively takes your fees from 12.55% to 11.55%.
You'd have to sell $1000 worth to make $10 and ONE free return knocks that profit right out.

Remember when it was 20% of FVF? Then ebay lowered it, then they made it tougher to reach that level. What's next, change it to 10% of Insertion Fees instead?
