I just started the Promoted Listings Advanced program . . .

I don't understand completely how it works or what I'm in for, but I just clicked on the Promoted Listings Advanced to see if it jumpstarts sales. 

I may regret it. I know it charges per click. Don't have any idea how that pans out in the long run. But, I thought I may as well give it a try while they are offering the first $100 off trial.

Sales have been so slow. So, let's see how this works out. I'll keep you posted.

Anyone else using it and getting good results?

I prefer promoted listings standard and I use ad rate of 4%. I hope you capped your daily limit on advanced, you might end up paying a lot to promote and no extra sales. Where as standard you only pay if it sells at your ad rate.

You're right. I have been using promoted listings standard. Up to 10% cap. Not good results lately. I don't really understand this Advanced program other than it charges per click. I may be exiting it quickly if it doesn't work out to my favor. LOL

You will likely regret it....... You will burn through the $100 credit and end up paying much more during the campaign and we little results.

    You will be charged for every click.  more often than not- clicks do not result in sales.  Its kind of a legal scam.

    If you search the boards here you will find that the more people that are "forced" ( out of desperation for sales) into trying promoted listings..... the less effective they are- think about it, if everyone is promoting then actually nobody is promoted!

Watch your purse carefully as this could be expensive.

Good for you for trying to make things happen.

Nothing good will happen if you stay still.

If that doesn't work I would try "Old Skool" and bump all your prices by 20% and do a markdown manager of 20%.  You have items that a few dollars higher won't turn off customers but that a 20% markdown may be the hook that works for you.

Quickly exit this if you see no real results. You have some inexpensive items for sale. It will cut deeply into your profits.

As people use and get "burned" by promoted listings, ebay is relying more and more on paying sellers to try PL with incentives.  If the products works great- you dont need to pay people to try it.......

The general consensus is that PL worked a better in the beginning when it gave you an advantage and bump in search results but those days are long gone as now the product is used to just pit sellers against one another in a desperate bidding war to get visibility. The only one to win in this situation is ebay.  Although this program is driving up prices, lowering seller profit, and driving product off the platform so it is a short cited plan on ebay's part.    This we will see in a few days when 3rd quarter profits are released.

Which is precisely the reason my selling ID stays far, far away from any of eBay's promotions of their, um, promoted listings arrangements.

How do we know a competitor isn't clicking our listings and burning our budget to get us out of the search list?

The bid rates are extraordinarily high compared to other pay-by-click  systems.

I have lost a lot of money trying to get it to work...it doesnt, it takes all your profit then some.

I sold an xmas decoration for £3 and was charged £2.81 for the click then paid the standard promotion fee and as well as the selling fees, they robbed me.

eBay is dead to me, I am off to the competition
