How will I know if an item sold is going to a foriegn buyer?

Does Ebay let us know its going to a HUB to be shipped off overseas.  Or will it say in the ORDERS area?

you can also tell by looking for an extra international fee in your payments

@oaklandmaryland

When a seller uses EIS, this fee is waved.  Sellers do not have to pay the additional 1.65%.  It is a perk of EIS.

Re: How will I know if an item sold is going to a foriegn buyer?

That seems to refer to damage in transit, which was handled by the GSP as their responsibility.

My question would be about NAD, where for example the book is pictured as:

Restaurant at the ent of th universe.jpeg

 But what is sent is:

DIEFENBAKER transcript memoirs copy 2.jpeg

Same book but different edition and different cover.

Leaving out the seller's responsibility to send the correct edition, is this a valid NAD? Will eIS cover the seller? Or does the seller have to pay for the return?

Don't get too fussy about detail- I don't have a lot of multiples of titles and this was the easiest to show.

I could be wrong, but there appears to me to be a huge loophole in the rules governing the eBay IS program (here).

Note the last bullet in the image below.

  • You'll be protected against item not received claims and chargebacks once your item is accepted at the domestic hub.

And if it's "not accepted"?

I have no idea what "accepted" means in this context, and forgive me for not taking eBay's words here at face value.  😁

I raise this because I recall a thread not too long ago about this very issue, in which the seller was help responsible for refunding the buyer for a NAD.   Seller was NOT responsible for return shipping, which eBay covered.

Since EIS is on the hook for coverage I suspect they open and check some packages for content as well as adequate packing. I have seen at least one post on this forum where EIS returned an item to the seller because it did not match what was sent. However, I could not find that post.

If EIS does/did not inspect the contents prior to forwarding this becomes a he said/she said situation as it always is for any claim and as with most claims eBay is going to side with the buyer. If EIS did not inspect the contents prior to shipment they have no way of proving the seller sent the wrong item and should cover the seller and handle the issue.

Any deviation in the seller protections under the EIS program and the program would begin to loose seller confidence.

If it's shipping to Glendale Illinois (most do) then you'll know.

There is also now an EIS hub in  Commerce, CA.

I knew (why I said (Most Do) but because 95% of all EIS orders are going to Canada/Europe and all those orders ship to Illinois, I didn't want to convolute my response (Commerce is for items going to 'the Pacific', which are few/far between mostly due to the super high cost of US $ vs. Au $ along with the high cost of Shipping (Item selling here for $29+$6 ship lists for almost $80 in Au)

Actually this morning I just shipped an EIS package to a buyer in Japan, and that's going via Glendale Heights, IL. Of course it may have something to do with my location too, which is about 50 miles from Glendale Heights, so it would definitely be a waste of time to ship it to California instead.

I have no idea what algorithm EIS uses to figure out which hub it goes to but I would suspect there are several factors one being where the seller is located and their proximity to the hub. For CA sellers for example it would make sense for the package to go to the CA hub regardless of where the buyer is located although based on one post I am not sure that always happens.

I am on the east coast and every package I have shipped has gone to the Illinois hub which backtracks the package for EU buyers but is inline for the Asian and South American buyers. I am guessing when eBay established the initial hub in Chicago it was midway in an attempt to cover east and west international shipments. I would not be surprised to see eBay open a hub on the east coast at some point to help reduce the backtracking of the initial domestic shipment.

My last 4 international orders have all gone to Asia. One to Japan, three to China all of gone through the Chicago hub.

IDK, I'm in the state of Washington and mine go through Glendale Heights too.

I suppose the EIS program has some logic behind their logistics program but I for one cannot figure out what it is.
