3 years ago, the employee in charge of our ebay listings left and I took over. Today, I accidently clicked to email me a copy of the invoice too. Unfortunately, there's a horribly out of date note on the invoice that was created by my predecessor and I cannot figure out how to edit it.

Huh. Usually the note on an invoice is blank each time you send it & you just enter any note you wish (you don't have to enter a note at all) individually, on each invoice.
Perhaps there's some way of automating that note, that I'm not aware of, so wait to see if anyone else chimes in.

Go to your selling overview, then preferences, then "manage communications with buyers" and there should be a place to edit the message.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, that's not working for me. When I follow your steps, here's what I see:
The only things I can actually click on are to turn the payment reminder off and and on and the two "Edit" links, but they are no help. The one after "Need to send and invoice?" claims to go to "https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CustomizeCheckout" but when I click on it, I'm redirected back to the Overview page.

What you could try is; Next time you send an invoice make any changes to the notation and see if it ask you to save. You could also try contacting eBay via Facebook or Twitter. The stay connected window for them is at the bottom of every page. Send a PM don't post on the open page.
