I have a potential buyer who sent 3 messages to me yesterday (Sunday), and 3 more this morning. I haven't answered them yet. All of them pretty much are different questions basically asking... "Do you have 2XL?", "Is it made in USA?", "I bought many from other sellers and they stink, Is this well made?", "What is the fabric, is it good?", "I have the item in my cart, can I get free shipping?"
Finally their last 6th message this morning is her calling me out on not responding to her... saying she has messaged me numerous times and I haven't answered any of them. She tells me that this isn't good customer service and I'm on thin ice. Also says since she is a potential new customer for me, I should provide service that she deserves to make a sale... to run my business.
I've already blocked this buyer in my BBL list. How would you reply to this buyer's messages though... or would you even?

Tell her you're having a sale on anger management and bipolar books.

My personal opinion is she/he sounds like a loose canon and if you haven't answered and have blocked them then I wouldn't answer at all.
Just sounds like if you reply with any answer they aren't going to be happy .
If you don't respond they will have no idea if you ever got the messages.
From the messages I would be fearful of a Snad

Did you check the setting that blocks messages from people on your BBL? If you reply to her she can still contact you even if you have the block set. If you don't reply then she will be blocked from contacting you if you have the message block set.
You already made the decision to block her. What good would come from you messaging her at this point?

I forgot the whole thing about message blocking too. I do have that enabled... but every previous time I blocked a buyer after a few back/forths (so message block didn't work).
I originally thought this buyer would start messaging me again demanding answers or complained once they found out they've been blocked. Finally I can utilize a message block after all these years.

I know the later questions you quoted were a little off the wall, but I hope what she's asking about was already answered in the description that she didn't read...? I get similar ones, and try to diplomatically point them to the description (which can be a little hard to find, at least in complete form, if in Mobile mode). I usually don't get more questions after that.

I BBL people but don't block them from sending messages. I like to give them every opportunity to hoist themselves with their own petard in the event that they decide to bypass my BBL.

LOLOLOL. I just love reading your posts, every single one is more than informative. Am sure you now have quite a few people wondering what petard is...my mother, bless her 89 year old soul, who reminds us all she is the perfect wordsmith, would love you! In case some don't know:
A petard is a small bomb used for blowing up gates and walls when breaching fortifications. It is of French origin and dates back to the 16th century. A typical petard was a conical or rectangular metal device containing 2–3 kg of gunpowder, with a slow match for a fuse.
Don't mean to insult anyone, but is one of City's funniest replies yet...you go girl!

Yea I looked up the word in dictionary.com when I read the post. Ha ha ha.

Petard gets even better.
Because fuses were very unreliable, the soldier who lit the fuse might not be able to get out of range when the "grenade" blew every thing up. So he would be lifted (hoist) by his own petard.
And.
"Pet" is French for ummm.... rectal air eruptions? Oh, let's try... fart.
Which works in nicely with the original messages.

I would have probably replied to her first message advising her that the information was in the description, or if it wasn't, give her the information she asked for. However, in the case of her latter questions and her apparent attitude, I would put her on my BBL and ignore any communications from her. It is doubtful that I would want her as a customer anyway.

Yea the answers to many of their questions are answered in description. Just asking for free shipping alone is enough to get onto my BBL list. This is because of my free returns and potential risk of a buyer coming back post sale and trying to "extort" a partial credit.

Agreed..always interesting and humorous...

Hi, glad you posted this for discussion. My viewpoint is somewhat different from the consensus so far on how to handle buyer communications.
If a prospective buyer has a question, I answer it promptly and courteously, regardless of whether or not the info is in the listing. It costs me virtually nothing to do so, and the benefit of making the sale is worth it to me. I am here to sell, not to pad my blocked buyer list. Having customers ask questions is not an imposition or an irritation. If it were, I would rethink my presence on the platform.
As for what i think you should do in your case, if a buyer is egregious enough to make it on my block list, I wouldn't think it necessary to have any dialog with them. (But only the worst offenders are on mine, for a total of about 3 or 4 over a 10 year selling period.) However, I would have responded to the buyer's messages and not let them pile up. I would have apologized if they did. But that's just my take. Every situation is unique, every seller has his own philosophy and tipping point. If the messages seem unhinged or the buyer is afflicted in some way, that is a different story. Same with profane or demanding inquiries.
As a buyer, if my question goes unanswered, I move along to another seller. (However, I wouldn't feel the need to chastise the seller over it.) So please say, why didn't you answer any of her queries?
