Did you mean:

How long do you wait for a buyer to voluntarily remove negative feedback before responding?

Buyer left me a negatove feedback for an expired product.

It was not expired. Maybe a little to close for his liking but still within ebay standards. I apologized and gave him a full refund anyway and asked if he would consider revising his feedback.

How long should i wait for him to voluntarily revise/remove the negative feedback before i respond to the feedback (which could upset him)?

My planned response: "Item received before expiration date clearly on the listing. Full refund given."

I already contated ebay about this.  I'm pretty sure they will remove this ... but with ebay you never know.

Buyer scams seller, leaves negative feedback, seller can't leave buyer negative feedback and has to request a revision from the buyer...makes perfect sense. eBay sucks.

eBay is terrible, they let buyers scam sellers all the time and they don't care about anything other than making fees. They charge and keep fees even on cancelled transactions. They let scammers use a gift code or redemption code, and then open cases to receive their money back. Everyone should look elsewhere to sell things.

***Update***

Buyer changed the negative to a neutral.

Ebay was nice enough to remove the neutral. I had asked them for a negative feedback removal. I guess since that neutral was stemming from a unwarranted negative, they decided to remove it.  Thank you ebay!

I wouldn't worry too much about that number.  I didn't even know it was there.  I doubt most buyers do.  Besides that, who says that a feeback revision is a bad thing? If ebay revised a feedback for you, that means they found in your favor right?

That was nice of them. I wonder if your "revised feedback" number still increased by one because of this order... or did that go away too because the resulting feedback was removed by ebay.

Mmm, yea I agree with you as I didn't even know that number was still there myself. But then I feel it's not an issue only up to a degree. For example, if I see a seller with feedback rating 500+ and their revised feedback number is like 400, I'd totally think something is up and tread cautiously with this seller.

I think sometimes the least amount of insignificant info shown to the buyer, the better.

You handled this correctly!!!!!!! Drop it and move on. Anyone advising you to pursue it further or leave a snarky response to the neutral is simply misinformed about customer service, has a really bad attitude, or simply doesn't get it.  Leave it alone!!!!!!!!

The buyer is allowed to revise the feedback type to positive or neutral (if it’s originally negative) or actually to negative (if it’s already a neutral).

I've never heard of being able to revise a feedback downward---your example of from a neutral to a negative.

I don't think that it can be done.

If the neutral was still there i was going to just leave it alone.   Fortunately ebay decided to remove it.  Ebay probably decided to remove it when it was still a negative, saw that it had been revised to a neutral by the buyer and still decided to remove it.  Go ebay!
