How does a seller get power seller status based on relying on the USPS postal & mother nature?

I don't understand how a seller can get power seller status through eBay power seller policies? Guarantee one day delivery service is impossible relying on the USPS and mother nature.  Weather including hurricane's, tornados, tsunami, volcano eruptions, snow, ice.  There's even the fact that the mail truck could break down out on delivery. Factors. Am I missing something here? A lot of things are out of our control. Power Seller status is a "Mission Impossible." I'm a new seller can somebody please explain.

The power seller designation has been discontinued.  You are currently showing as a top rated seller. This does not require same or one day handling.  I know of no program that requires one day delivery.  Handling and delivery aren’t the same thing.

Handling is the time it takes you to get it into the hands of the carrier, which YOU are responsible for.

Delivery afterwards is NOT something you are responsible for.

"One-day delivery" means that the seller is delivering the item to the post office on the day following a sale -- NOT delivery to the buyer within one day.

USPS offers USPS Express Priority shipping, which may include one-day delivery to the buyer -- but eBay does NOT require sellers to use it to maintain Top Rated Seller Plus status, much less Top Rated Seller status.

Top Seller Plus requires same day / one day shipping.  And free returns.  Your reward is supposedly higher search placement.  And 10% off the fvf.   If the fee to sell is $6.00 you get .60 cent credit.

It can be done if you pay close attention to weather reports and make use of "time away" at the appropriate times.  I know because I used to be a Top Seller Plus.

I don't have the carrier pickup / request pickup option because I don't really have a secure place for my packages in the vicinity of the road and I have a driveway I don't wish on any mail carrier.  So I had to take my package(s) to the PO every day.

When the price of gas skyrocketed, I realized that plus label wasn't worth it.  I switched to 2 day shipping and have not lost sales.  Generally I ship Monday, Wednesday and Friday.   Sometimes I catch a same day sale before the trip to the PO, so they buy today and it ships today, sometimes they just have to wait.

Can you provide a link to the "power seller" information you're looking at that requires one-day delivery service?

According to your feedback, you've been selling more than a year now.

Make sure to get tracking numbers for every shipment. Ship all your items out within your handling time, well before it if you want. Make sure the shipping addresses are valid, otherwise cancel the order as “problem with buyers address.”

That’s all you can control on your end. The rest is up to USPS, Mother Nature, and luck. With the tolerance eBay gives you with late shipments, it’s statistically proven by many sellers that the the failures of these uncontrollable aspects will fall within the tolerance given generally by volume.

@buyselljack2016

Since this thread is about 'status' and has NOTHING to do with anything else-what I stated is correct.

Yes, seller is responsible if the item arrives broken or is lost, but if tracking shows delivered etc etc.

Interesting. "What do you consider a new, newer seller vs old, older seller?" Status.  I hope age has nothing to do with it.

The on-time shipping metric for Top Rated Seller status only requires that you get an acceptance scan within your shipping time.

That aside ...

One day delivery is not a requirement for Top Rated Seller status. I have been Top Rated on my main selling account since the program started, and I have always offered 3-day shipping.

So the answer to your question is easy: as long as you meet the transaction count and dollar amount thresholds, the rest of Top Rated Seller status is entirely within the seller's control.
