Did you mean:

How can I run a business if you only let me send 5 messages a day to customers?

So I reached out to 6 clients today who are repeat buyers to let them know I have a new lot that they may be interested in.    On the 6th one I got this message:

"You've exceeded the maximum number of messages you can send per day. Please wait until tomorrow to send more messages."

Seriously, 6 people?  I'm not using any bots or tools, literally just going back through old orders and using the contact buyer option to send them a message about the new lot available.

How am I to run a business when you limit my ability to talk to the people who buy from me?

I think they meant that they were blocked when they tried to reach the 6th buyer.  Not that they tried to send buyers 6 messages (I hope).

Oh really? I connected the dots from the title and the post content thinking the OP intended to send 6 buyers 5 messages each but got denied when they reached the 6th buyer. The math adds up.

But if in fact they got shut down for the day after sending 5 cold messages, the limit might differ depending on the seller account in terms of level and standing I guess.

Maybe the OP will come back and clarify. I read "...to let them know I have a new lot  ... using the contact buyer option to send them a message about the new lot available," and figured it was a message about a single new listing.

I am guessing this isn't the first time she has done this. So they might have just changed the programming to stop sellers at 6 instead of 25.

This is the first time the OP has posted in the Community.  They aren't likely to find the thread they started unless we @tag them when we reply to their post.  ðŸ™‚

The only time I have ever sent a message to a customer if it wasn't about a particular purchase was if they inquired about a out of stock item and asked if I notify them when it is back in stock.

Unsolicited marketing messages to buyers has another name - "spam".

eBay is very sensitive to buyers being turned off by receiving too many unsolicited messages and unsolicited offers.

You could set up a mailing list or newsletter somewhere online, and include a card with each package giving instructions for your buyers to sign up if they are interested.

They don't care how many unwanted messages they send sellers though, with no way to turn them off. I would LOVE a "not interested" button (that worked) for ebay spam.

As a buyer, I would consider a seller contacting me blind like that 100% spam.

I suspect eBay believes the same and does not want their sellers spamming buyers.

Have you considered using the Newsletter functionality?  That allows you do notify your subscribers to the newsletter of your new items, specials, etc.

Hope that helps.

He was sending to repeat buyers.  They are far less likely to consider it unwanted contact, if they have bought from him more than once.  He already knows what they bought/wanted from past sales, and thats why these specific buyers were even considered to have this mentioned to them.

Its not blind cold calling.

Glad @wastingtime101  posted the links for OP, you are not allowed to do what you're doing & it also really annoys buyers.

@toomuchstuffagain35  Just FYI, in Communication Preferences, you can actually control a great deal of the messages that eBay sends you.  There's like 5 or 6 different categories.
