How can I find out why an account was suspended?

My nephew recently listed 3 items for sale, and ebay immediately removed them. He received a message that his account was suspended with no explanation why. The message did list 4 or 5 possible reasons why the action was taken, but none of them applied to him. He has done nothing wrong and his account shows a zero balance. We have tried numerous ways to reach someone to find out exactly why this was done, but hit a dead end every time. It isn't fair to suspend an account without at least letting a seller know exactly what happened to cause this action. Seems like a poor way to do business when a company this size has an unreachable Customer Service Department. Does anyone know how to reach an actual human being so this matter can be resolved?

Granted those are a lot of red flags, however, a new seller might honestly not know the fragrances policy.

Ebay has an extremely poor record of policing their own site...this leads to people seeing things on ebay that are not supposed to be there but are. Which in turn leads people to believe it's ok because they see hundreds and sometimes even thousands of the same thing for sale by other sellers.

We see it time and time again on these discussion boards..."mine was removed, but hundreds of the same thing still remains". Justifiably, people get upset when they see what appears to be a double standard.

Point is, if someone sees an item, say used bottles of cologne (of which a quick search shows over 35,000 current listings that are used bottles), what would make someone think they are in any way listing a restricted item?

Oh, I 100% agree with all of that. New sellers shouldn't be able to even complete a listing like that. Sellers that have been here for decades can't publish a listing without filling in completely senseless item specifics, but a person can open an account here and list a $1000 (used) fragrance on the same day? It makes zero sense.

OMG, don't get me going about item specifics...they have gotten so out of control. I don't even know what half of them even mean.

I don't think there should be any restriction on the dollar amount new sellers can list unless there are valid reasons to do so. To some people, $1,000 is not a lot, to others...it is.

How could a fair amount be determined...?
