This is the message I got yesterday from a random buyer. I have no clue what tool he has. I have no clue what part he wants. What is the best way to report this and actually get eBay's attention enough to take action before it becomes a problem for me [again]?

Do you mean he's never bought from you?

First.........there's no way to preempt a neg on ebay's part....... So, I would do an apology.......So sorry the item didn't work for you, this is a trigger as stated in the listing.......please return for a refund........

you sent them exactly what they ordered instead of what they needed. Of course you will get a neg for your mistake

IF he does return as not as described with a neg.........report him then.......and if they deny the neg, appeal it with the info that buyer is asking for something not listed......

Top right in your image, click the circle with the three dots. Abusive buyer -> feedback extortion is the relevant part of eBay policy to reference in your report.

Well, buyer has opened a return... proper return reason used. I'm pretty sure the buyer won't send the $3.94 item back since they have to pay return shipping for a remorse return... And that pretty much guarantees they'll leave negative feedback since they've already come out swinging on first contact.

If you get a negative, have it removed.
He's threating you with neg feedback. eBay will remove that

Ways to avoid negative feedback...
*Provide good service.
*Be nice.
*Be humble.
*Be fair.
*Be honest.
*Treat customers the way would like to be treated.
There is no way to "guarantee" no negative feedback, but these things help.
In THIS particular case, communicate with the seller.
Find out what he wants/needs.
What does he have?
What did he order?
Reqardless of who's fault it is (usually the customers) do your best to make it right.

I've already reported them... but I attempted to combine both 'abusive buyer -> Demanding something not offered in the original listing' and Member-to-member contact->threats (which is technically only 'physical', not feedback related)
I don't see anything in the abusive buyer policy covering 'feedback extortion'/extortion at all. Am i missing something?
I've also not seen any action taken from this reporting step to make me think it is anything other than a 'make the seller feel better because I reported it' button...

Haha... recent events (and recent posts on this forum by myself) have proved otherwise...

Keep on top of the shipping. There is a sort of loophole where they can wait it out, then eBay will assume its shipped, then assume its delivered, despite none of this actually happening. I had to go through this on a return and then had to have eBay step in when eBay claimed it was delivered, despite the tracking indicating otherwise on their own page. eBay was going to try to force me to refund it, even though it wasn't returned.
Mind you, the buyer waited till the last day they had to ship it back to provide tracking, and then it was the last possible day for it to arrive when eBay started assuming it was delivered.
This being a low cost item, it might not mean much, but its something that can happen with returns and the buyer is paying for the return.
I highly doubt they send it back, and I very much believe they will leave a neg. But report the message as others have stated as that preserves that for any case going forward.
