I have close to 1000 listings that now need recommended and suggested item specifics changed back, and and an unknown number which need to be put into the proper category. This is taking hours and hours of my time and probably costing me sales.
Many sellers have even more work to do to fix these issues.
Ebay could apologize and make it up in some manner. Send me a goodie bag at least.

Skip the 'recommended' and just stick to the essential IS's - that cuts down on the nonsense work we have to do.

Understand that 1000's of sellers have had to do the same thing over the last several years in other categories.......don't hold your breath on the goodie bag........

I'm trying to take advantage of as many specifics as possible because I believe Ebay will match them with search terms that buyers input.
For instance many buyers and sellers don't know the difference between vintage and antique so I check both, and many buyers search for items made in America or United States.

I don't think they even give a hoot.

Can you imagine what they would put in a "goodie bag".

I only have 600+ listings that need to be addressed any response from ebay would be more than appreciated. I have had such great response from ebay in the past this situation really baffles me. I mean how could you put so many items in the wrong category. Glasses put in candleholders, Vases put in plates, candleholders put in creamers and the list goes on. This does not even begin to identify the mess with item specifics try identifying the years an item was made almost impossible. Come on ebay say something.

The category changes are a huge problem for everyone. Really time consuming for sellers and difficult for buyers trying to find your items. Is their search algorithm up to the task? Don't think so... my sales are in the tank for the past week.
The item specifics are total insanity. Ever hear of TOO MUCH information? Make sure you fill out the "required" and only use any recommended or additional specifics that are important to the sale of your item. I'm seeing a lot of people filling out ALL of the boxes with useless information such as "does not apply" or "n/a (not applicable)". Don't do it. Just a waste of space at the top of your listing.
eBay will never apologize for anything they do..... been living with all the brilliant ideas and changes for over 10 years now.

My thought exactly.
Being a micro seller, I only had to rework about 20 listing, and while doing that I decided to look at my item specifics from a buyer's point of view.
What buyer wants to sort through 20-50 IS to see the ones that give pertinent information about the item? When I see a listing with dozens of IS (duplicates, n/a, irrelevant), my eyes glaze over and I close the page.
As I worked assigning correct categories to my listings, I only filled in the "Soon to be Required" IS and any Recommended that actually described the item. I also set a twelve IS limit on all my listings. That's the most I'm willing to look at as a buyer. YMMV.
To address the OP...never in my 22 years on eBay has eBay Inc ever given compensation for the extra hours of work that site changes have inflicted on sellers.

Yes, but it's what YOU need for selling, not just what eBay prompts. If you have a few extras (I know I do), that's one thing, but there's a lot that ebay prompts that just really doesn't make sense (like 'character' for adult clothing).
ETA: When I went through this a couple of years ago I gave it a little time to settle out - I found out that at last some of my old IS's had migrated and I didn't have to update so much - not sure where things are in this iteration.

I'll have to wait until Nov 1 for new promotions but in October my Basic Store had 10,000 GTC free listings on dotCOM and 100,000 on dotCA.
A second Basic Store had the same - again on the two different sites.
I do have Global TRS status, since I am registered in Canada.
This has been true for most of this year.
Even if you don't have a Store subscription, you can double the number of Free Listings you have by listing on eBay Canada as well as here.
There are a few quirks.
No great stretch, most Canadian sellers have done this for years. If you want more listings, get out of your comfort zone.
It will be interesting to see what the numbers are in November.

None.
Buyers are not the target for IS. They are aimed at Google (and Bing and Alta Vista for all I know).
The more IS we can add, without being shipped off to the giggle factory, the more often Google is likely to find our listing and show it to a human browser.
Buyers will continue on their merry way, sticking their own keywords, unique to them, in the Search bars. The more often their Search matches our IS , the more often they might/ possibly /if we are lucky/ see our listings instead of the ten thousand similar items also available.
Which is where our Descriptions come in.

So sending YOU a goodie bag will make everything fine for all sellers! Got it.

That makes sense.
Although...I have a hard time picturing a google searcher putting "n/a" or "does not apply" or "1980-90" in their search bar.
Also, are all those big search engines happier if I have "United State" repeated two or three times in my IS?
