I sold a body kit on Ebay worth $ 2800, I was very happy. I was also calm because the body kit was of excellent quality and I was sure that the buyer would like it, but when the body kit was delivered, the buyer asked for a refund. I couldn't do it because I would have lost $ 1,500 minimum of personal money. A dispute was opened. The buyer said that he did not fit the body kit by sending a photo on the knee on the lawn, attaching the parts to the body, not even in a specialized service. Also, he has additional equipment (tow bar) on the car, and it prevents you from installing a body kit. My product matches the description, but ebay returned the money to the buyer, leaving me with the commission paid for the sale, lost money for the delivery, and left the product to the buyer. So, if you do not want to pay for the purchased body parts, just screw anything to your car so that it interferes with the installation of parts purchased on Ebay and this will be an excuse to return the money. The concept of a standard body from Ebay is not. How to continue to sell car products if ebay looks at the buyer's car when considering the dispute and does not look at the standard non-modified car bodies?

The lesson being, when a buyer says it's not as described, take it back, or lose everything.

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad

Lesson 2 ~ Large, expensive objects generally shouldn't be sold on eBay.

I agree, I removed everything expensive from the sale. I also decided to split the bulk products into many small components as much as possible.

Was this a US sale? As you are outside the US - just wondering if you could have worked it out with the buyer as they likely would not have been sending it back?

It is painful to know this happened to you. So sorry it did.
To answer your question, "How to continue to sell car products if ebay looks at the buyer's car when considering the dispute and does not look at the standard non-modified car bodies?"
Actually, it is probable that eBay does not look at the evidence before finding for the buyer. It is more or less an automatic system rigged in the buyer's favor. Essentially any item can be stolen from an eBay seller using a bogus Not As Described claim. It is one of the risks of selling here.
Apparently the seller's evidence is not reviewed until the appeals process. Have you appealed the ruling? If not, you will find a link below on how to appeal the case. Don't let a customer service rep advise you to let them appeal on your behalf. You fill in all the information yourself and submit it, following the guidelines carefully.
Most buyers are completely honest, but there are certain categories that can attract the undesirable element. And expensive items being sold by new sellers with little feedback are scam magnets. The fraudsters hope to take advantage of your inexperience with the terms of eBay's Money Back Guarantee. Also listed below is a link to the MBG policy. It is a critical bit of info every seller needs to know before listing their first item. It is possible to sell successfully here, but the learning curve is pretty steep, and absolutely necessary. Knowing the policies that govern the site gives you a fighting chance.
Wish you all the best, and good luck to you if you decide to appeal.

Selling auto parts on ebay can be very problematic, between weekend mechanics and people who have no clue as to what they're doing. It all adds up to an higher rate of return that normal. Unless you have the volume to offset the losses it's a losing proposition.

On eBay, any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute.
Every transaction on eBay carries the risk of fraud, and selling on eBay means you are putting the item and the cost of shipping at risk.

Things like that I sell as local pickup only and then the buyer pays in person, which fortunately is still allowed.
That doesn't help a guy in Russia sell to America I suppose, but I have never been nailed for a large sum that way because eBay can't control the money. I've sold a few things guys just never picked up, after a year or so I list them again and see what happens.
