How Ebay cheats sellers

I recently sold an item which was listed as buyer pays shipping. I specifically put in the exact wieght of the package and the dimensions. Ebay gave a range of 16-84 dollars. The auction ended and Ebay tells the buyer to pay $25 for shipping and then charges me $35 dollars for shipping. And then are they going to charge me a final fee value on the $10 they cheated me out of. I sure somewhere in Terms and Conditions that they can legally cheat sellers. I have a lot of antiques to sell, but I can't deal with this dishinestly. Any recommendations for other online auction sites.

I don't know I cannot retrieve that screen because the transaction is complete. I guess I will have to list something and go through the process to see what everybody is trying to tell I did wrong. Thank you.

To bring up a duplicate of the original listing, just click on "Sell similar". To bring up another label form for any listing, click on "Print another label."

Really think about this before you move everything over.  I have sold on the marketplace, and quite frankly it sucks.  I have people messaging me ridiculous questions making me take more and more photos.... , making appointments to come to see & buy items that they never show up for..., having me jump through all sorts of hoops.  I prefer eBay - I get far fewer tire-kickers....  I figure people come to eBay to buy... They are on Facebook to waste time.... and that very well ends up being wasting my time.... because they have nothing better to do while surfing facebook than to message me every little question that floats into their heads while they are wasting time.....    This is just my experience..... YMMV

Yup!  I've done the opposite LOL!     I go to the casino with my dad sometimes, and some of the slot machines have a "max bet button" - Man I have hit that thing accidentally 3 or 4 times.... only 1 time did it actually pay off 😛

How did you mail it?  I'm seeing a choice on the listing:

At this point, I'm guessing the buyer chose UPS and you mailed USPS............

To be more exact, they get reduced rates from the PO which are passed to the sellers.

So how does the buyer get to select the service....

And when your customer looks at the price the range you see on listing is seen by the customer as the rate to her doorstep.

You don't need to know the zipcode.

She doesn't see a range. She sees a price.

She pays the price. You get enough money to pay for shipping.

You use it to buy a label. You ship.

I packed it with about 2 cubic feet of those air bubble things, foam and bubble wrap. The things I sell are old and you can't replace. I didn't know that ebay lets you ship Ups but before I shipped I checked the price with ups and it was about the same, so I gave up and shipped with the label they sent they won't send you a label for ups. I thought they were only contracted through the post office. I have got to figure this out. Thanks for your help.

@zickbearcat  So one thing that happens is that eBay does not calculate dimensional shipping when charging the buyer if you do not change the package size to "large package" if your box is over 1 cubic foot (which the box you used definitely is) - they calculate the shipping charge based on the weight alone. Yet another issue with eBay's shipping module. I've made that mistake before for sure. Maybe that is what happened with your listing that made the price the buyer paid less that what it cost you?

If you go to your sold listing and choose "purchase another label" you'll be able to see the options that we are telling you about. If you're looking on the web, not the mobile app, on the left side of the screen, it will say "service" and a couple of lines down, in blue, will say "compare all services". That would provide you will all the options available. It will include the ones you offered and all the others available as well.  That could be a way to see if you had other options. The option that the buyer chose should have a "buyer selected" box directly to the right of the service they selected.

I know it sucks that you've gotten hit with an additional charge for shipping, but try to treat it as a learning experience - not that eBay is cheating. We might not like all the fees, but eBay is usually pretty up front about the fees and it is up to us as sellers to know what they are going to be when we list items for sale.

Thank you it makes me feel better to know it has problems and I tried to get help from them and all you get are robots, can't reason with a robot. I have a lot of antiques I would like to find a nice home for. I will try again hopefully I have learned something from everyones imput. Trick me once shame on Ebay trick me thice shame on me. I haven't had to many crazies on Marketplace everybody has been quite pleased with what I had to offer. The problem with antiques is knowing their value and with auctions the value is determined by what the buyer will pay. Just trying to get the stuff out there before my expiration date. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you.

Both of the options that were mentioned are still available after the transaction is complete.

You are right I did, but I didn't see what you just posted. I believe what I sell cannot be replace I used tons of air pockets foam I do everything I can to ship safely and fast. I just hope I don't make this mistake again, I do not know why I did not see this it is not at all what I see on the listing, but thanks for your help.

They also take their commission not just on your sale price, but also they take on the shipping and sales tax as well. If you pay for AD exposure, you are charged not just for advertising your product price, but again you are billed for everything including Shipping and tax costs. Oh, and there's more, try looking into their International shipping. It is neatly removed from your invoices now; all you can see is the USPS shipping to eBay's Shipping Hub. They lost a big Class Action Lawsuit in the past, and will probably see another.
