So, I’m back selling again for a little bit. I can track how many people viewed my items and if there are any watchers. The hub will show me actual impressions, too. (Which is humbling because it seems a lot of people can see an item but only a select few will click it but that’s not the topic of interest here)
When I go to list, I’ll do a search and then “ sell similar” (Maybe there is a better way, but I’m not aware of it) That activity doesn’t make me a “watcher” from a sellers perspective, correct? I didn’t bookmark the item, but I did click on it and my research tells me that’s classified as a “ view”
Am I correct in my understanding that a viewer is not involved in the constant pushes by EBAY to “make an offer?” That is to say, only an actual watcher would receive that offer?
I ask because, I get seller offers for every item I look up to “sell similar” Which makes me a viewer and not a watcher and yet I get offers.
Are my offers sent to everyone that ever viewed?
Thanks. I just keep on listing. Not making a ton of sales but I’m hoping it just drips along enough to make it all worth it. I’m treating it like a hobby but recording everything like a business and I do keep sourcing!

Offers can go to non watchers.
I believe eBay refers them as 'Interested buyers'.
I wouldn't say everyone who viewed. Perhaps viewed within a short time span.
Or added to cart and never purchased.

So, whatever the qualifications are, my “sell similar” qualifies! When I get an offer, I think it would be fun to get my listing up and then send them an offer. 🤓

1) Don't know answer whether using "sell similar" to create listing will be classified as having "viewed the item" and therefore getting you more offers.
2) I get many offers on items I just viewed and did not "watch item". Buyers have option to "opt out" of receiving offers (not sure how to go about "opting out".
3) EBAY decides which item Seller can "send offer to" (go to ACTIVE LISTINGS and select SEND OFFER ELIGIBLE items). When you an offer it will go to ALL watchers on SEND OFFER ELIGIBLE list.

When sellers send an offer to all of their watchers, they may enable automatic offers which are sent to everyone who views the item.
When you get an offer for an item you viewed for reasons other than buying, that is usually the case.
I do not enable make an offer. View uncommon items when I list and am more likely to receive an offer for an item I looked at in order to answer a question than one I chose to sell similar on. And most of the items I view for business reasons are unlikely to receive seller offers.
Seller experiences are tied heavily to what they sell.

I don't feel I'm alone is saying that I really dislike this new offer thingy they have started. I don't mind getting one on something I'm actually watching, so I don't want to turn off the option, but I sure wish I didn't get them or inadvertently send them on everything else. Annoying as heck. I feel buyers aren't even going to welcome them for things they may want to buy...they just delete them all now.

1.) An 'IMPRESSION' means that it 'came up' either with the keywords that a shopper input or from a 'category' search, but MOST importantly-
It can be on Page 83 and NOT EVER seen by that shopper.
2.) A 'view' means it's ACTUALLY BEEN CLICKED ON by a shopper.
This is why 'IMPRESSIONS' can be in the Thousands while 'Views' can be in the Tens.
3.) Offers can 'go to watchers or ANYONE that 'clicked' on your item, therefore a VIEW, but NOT just an IMPRESSION (and you can control/choose whether you want offers that YOU send out going to "just watchers" or "All"

How?

I only send Offers to listings that have Views not those that have Watchers.
Views are time-limited, they only appear for 30 days.
Watchers may have had the item on their Watch List for years.
Views are fresh- even if they were a glance.
Both Viewers and Watchers are members who did not buy.

Wow! I had no idea. That explains it all. I thought maybe store owners were able to send offers to viewers.
Thanks!

Eligible listings include:
Items a buyer opts to watch
Items added to cart that have been there for at least 5 days
eBay Store subscribers can save time and effort with rule-based automatic offers. Instead of manually initiating offers to buyers, this feature lets you automate your offers based on criteria such as category, price range, and item condition. When an eligible buyer shows interest in a listing that fits your criteria, we’ll automatically send them your offer.

Nope, you're not alone.
Ebay needs to understand that just because you look at an item, doesn't mean you want to buy it or receive offers on it.
I started getting so many, I just opted out of receiving offers.
