Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

Anyone else feeling the slow down in September? I usually get at least 2-3 orders per day... Now crickets for the last 10 days...Very weird, also I usually get a lot of watchers, views on my items but this month it seems to very low count.

It is your asking prices.  Some are outrageous and may never sell.

Never thought I'd be happy to start selling at the flea market. However, even though I have many niche items, being that there's cool graphics and vintages vibes galore, it is indeed a viable option to supplement all I have lost on here. Before they started messing around with all the new stuff, I did very well.

Interesting... I had been listing games only last few days and most of my listings are cards, so all I've sold recently for 95 percent of  sold items is games. The algorithm of getting sales more based on listing seems to be tied ti not just when you listed last but most likely what kind of listings and possibly how much listed at the time? It would make sense, I thought something odd was going on, but this could be why...

@htownmma   All of those are factors - recency, relevancy, listing quality, etc., and of course number of items.  Also, if one sells a certain widget, it's more likely that a similar widget will sell soon thereafter, as the sale of one widget brings any other same-widgets up in search.  I've seen this a number of times in my own listings.

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

Something very drastic has happened as of late.  Last two months, slower and s l o w e r .....no watchers,  few hits, 1 small sale in two weeks.  Don't think the looking crowd is finding me.  AND I have been running a "free ship sale" to see what happens.  I do know that things are tough in the "outside world".  I have another site which gets a lot of hits but noboby is pulling the trigger.  People do not know what is going to happen next in our world...   even I have curtailed my buying.  We wait it out if we can.....

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

I tried to wrestle with this last night as I've noticed whenever I get a bone thrown to me the SELL THRU RATE was like 10% 12%.  I thought is it my pictures?   I've been erasing the backgrounds by hand to make them pop.  Is it my titles attracting the wrong people?   I guess.  Then again I see others trying less and selling.  As others have been saying buyers often have to weed through a lot to just get a sale.  Sellers have to promote more which just creates a clusterblank.  They changed so many categories in the past few years to be more like amazon but there's still no organization. I had to scroll through dozens of flippers last night re-selling 12' skeletons they obviously got at home depot at a massive markup(hundreds of dollars).  There's also 30k listings in one little category with so many repeats.  A customer is going to have to scroll through a lot of that just to make a decision and their decision is to go shop on amazon which ships and delivers on sunday.  Too many dropshippers, many of which play games to "win the box" like on amazon.

I see some ebay sellers on google shopping but not all.  Did they also change the rules there?

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

What promotions do is counter productive.  They give us many more impressions(corner of the eye stuff/blur from a fast scroll)than clicks.  They frustrate potential customers are they're always never relevant to them.  Then they lower of click thru rate and obviously our sell thru rate which tells ebay we are bad sellers.  Ebay will lower us or even not show us as a result.  Ebay is telling me most of my views are external today and very few views at that.  Probably a stalker.

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

I am down on every site that I sell.      Ebay has the least increase of all the sites that I sell on.

It will pass,  but in the meantime I am pulling down old listings,     checking titles and descriptions,     marking down slow moving inventory.

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

not google shopping but searching ebay by using google , as a buyer and a seller , i have found it most frustrating how the search engine has turned in to CR*P on the bottom of my shoe , i use to purchase quite a bit more then i do now , as a buyer its a frustrating piece of CR*P search engine and ebay has lost at a minimum 80% of my business because of it , and i completely agree the promoted ads are **bleep** and make for an even worse buyer experience , but ebay does not care

Re: Have sales slowed down for you in September 2022 ?

Since May, when ebay did whatever it was that they did to bugger things up, my sales and the views on items have totally TANKED. Though I'm not a big mega seller, up until that point I was getting regular sales every month. Enough to help pay a few bills and supplement my monthly SS check. Then, like somebody at ebay flipped a switch, everything cratered practically overnight. Since May, I've been lucky if I even get ONE sale a month! And two sales a month now, since this change in May, gets me to doing the Happy Dance. It never used to be like this. This is flat out INSANITY!

This same thing has happened to a good friend of mine, as well. He has been selling on ebay since it very first opened. Since around May his sales have dropped by 2/3 of what they used to be. He told me that he's never in all his years of selling seen things this bad.

Yes, yes, granted SOME of the sales cratering that MANY sellers have been complaining about may be due to the economy, I get that. Things are pretty scary out there now because of what this administration has done to deliberately destroy the US economy. But that's not the entire story. No way. Ebay BROKE something  and now it's killing us small mom and pop sellers, as well as affecting the larger sellers.

And as for all the consistent ZERO views that now show on most of my items, well, I'm not buying it that it was mostly bots giving view numbers, as I've seen stated in some posts on this matter. That's purdee horse pucky. Can a bot favor an item and put it in the watch list? Nope, I do not believe for one minute that a bot can do that. But ever since ebay broke whatever it was they broke, the number of my items that were regularly in the watch list every month since I first started selling about 5-6 years ago, has gone from a steady and consistent 20-30 items, or more, to just a handful now. If I'm lucky. And, like other posts I've read, almost all of the views on my items remain at zero these days. Before May, ALL of my items always had at least SOME views.

Things are just not right any more! So, PLEASE ebay... FIX THIS!!! Undo whatever it was that you did and put things right again!
