Did you mean:

Has anyone noticed this price suggestion?

Or am I just the last to pay attention?

Using sell similar, when I got to the Buy It Now Price line, next to it was:

$36.98( $28.99 + $7.99 shipping )

Lowest price available now on eBay.

Hmm.  That's actually almost helpful.  Of course, I did have to spend time confirming that factoid and in this case it was a single widget that could not get confused with anything else.  Nor do I have any idea how this works with mq listings, since ebay used to lump all those prices together as one.

Anyway, I thought this could be worthy of almost more than a golf clap.  The last sell similars I did were probably a week or so ago, so is this new ?  Anyone else seeing it?

Re: Has anyone noticed this price suggestion?

I saw it pop up a few times this week, only when eBay could link the same item through a UPC.

Re: Has anyone noticed this price suggestion?

You're right; I used a UPC.

In the past, recently, now, ebay has given price suggestions for items without UPCs.  I know I have stopped using them because of catalog issues and will continue to not enter them until that gets fixed (oh look - a pig just flew by my window!) and/or we get zapped for not using them.

Note:  I rarely have an item that ebay demands that a UPC is entered.  I'm still trying to figure out a workaround for a $$$ book because I can't get past ebay's insistence on populating specifics based on the ISBN and I'm not even using the ISBN; ebay is picking it up from the title.  I need to be able to say my book is damaged and don't want to rely on a buyer wading through the 58 lines of specifics to get to my description to see that issue.

I noticed the same blurb next to BINP on a few when doing sell similars this past week

Re: Has anyone noticed this price suggestion?

Yeah, I understand not wanting to use the UPC in a listing for a damaged item. We've been told all along that these numbers are simply identifiers. After the long thread about included goodies with a video game deal, it now seems that in some scenarios, these numbers can be interpreted to also denote condition and/or bundle status. Oh happy day!

How about creating an Item Specific for Damaged Condition or something like that? Then you could put missing/torn pages, water damage, cover defaced or whatever in the field. Repeat the info in the main description and in the Seller Notes.

Just random musings. I think that's all a seller can humanly do these days.

Of course, if the buyer has a problem with receiving a damaged book, we know how that's going to end up too. Between a rock and a hard place, we are.

Re: Has anyone noticed this price suggestion?

I get those those price suggestions when offers come in.

They are just that, suggestions.

This wasn't a price suggestion; it was an accurate "current lowest price for this widget."

The suggestions, I don't think, are linked to UPCs.

After the long thread about included goodies with a video game deal,

That thread was what led me down the path of UPC disobedience.  It was scary.

It was quite breathtaking to see the crazy lengths eBay is prepared to go to bleed sellers white.

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".
