Dear Ebay and Paypal,
I will no longer be doing business with you. I recently sold an item on 3/29 that the buyer picked up from my house on 3/30 and after he left a positive feedback you still won't release funds before the 21 day period. This is unacceptable business practice. You already take out 10% off my gross sale and 3% in paypal fees BEFORE i even get a penny of the transaction, yet you have a stupid 21 day waiting policy. This will no longer be tolerated.

My purpose was the disagreement of the holds fund of 21 days.
As we tell buyers, you need to question or object BEFORE you buy. In this case, you didn't understand/disagreed..... but listed the item anyway........ ebay may not be the best place for you to sell..........so picking up your marbles to go home may be the best idea........
OR you learn something from the experience that makes you a better seller.

Hi~ As mentioned, if you needed the money immediately you should have taken cash on the pickup. As far as Paypal, you're not ready for that. Life isn't all fast food immediacy. We're not ebay or Paypal here, but we hope you don't leave just because of this one little hiccup. Sadly Ebay and Paypal don't care either way.
(It's Good "riddance" as in glad to be rid of.)

Don't be surprised when the buyer opens an item not received dispute on the transaction because he paid with paypal and there's not proof that the buyer received the item.
If you don't know how to play the game, best you sit on the sidelines.

Which would not be worthwhile on a purchase of , say, winter tires.
Why would they have to prove return when the seller can't prove delivery? It's not a SNAD or buyer's remorse; it's INR.

Simply don't use that method of payment for pick-ups (use cash only!). If the seller loses on this deal, it's because he didn't know the rules.
You can't list it without also checking off Paypal as an option.

True, but you can list Payment upon pickup.
If you offer payment upon pickup, you'll also need to offer one of the approved electronic methods, and may include this statement in your listing: "Contact me for payment methods to pay on pickup."

Why is it necessary to start a thread saying goodbye to ebay and paypal? They don't read the boards.
If you're not satisfied that doesn't mean others have to do what you say.

@triquestav wrote:Exactly. And this is why the 21 day hold is unjustifyable. The buyer also has 21 days to use your product and possibly damage it while Paypal holds your funds.
When an item sells, eBay charges fees to the seller straight away, but generally waits between 15 and 45 days to get their money.
They are just returning the favor 🙂

Wow, you really don't get it, do you?
There is no way to block a buyer from using paypal. You can't stop them. Ebay insists that you offer paypal (or other electronic payment should you have a merchant account.)

There are times I really feel sorry for new sellers on ebay.
I think it would really be nice if ebay had someone on staff that could - and would - translate the policies and rules and stipulations of selling here into plain, everyday language. As well as the mentioning the little ins and outs and nuances of their terms and conditions. AND THEN, make that available - in a very conspicuous spot - to all sellers, new or old.
I mean, it wouldn't take much longer to read than their TOS and one would only have to be read once, rather than every few weeks like the TOS. THEN, you have to start all over and do it with paypal, too!
Then, the buyer, if they have a problem and can even find the forums, comes on here and get sand kicked in their face because they 'should have known' all these little things before they started selling (of course, if they did know all that before they started, many wouldn't).
I sure wish I had the memory, and the years left in a couple of lifetimes, to read over - and understand - ALL of the terms and conditions of all the credit card conditions, pirvacy policy statements, insurances policies, the warrantees, guarantees, assurances, drug warnings and health warnings and indications and contra-indications, safety alerts and warnings and threats THE FIRST TIME, let alone the constant updates.
I'm sure that knowing ALL of that - and understanding all of it, too - would make my life much happier and I would need so many fewer hobbies!
(Ah, YES, I do feel better - and, thanks for asking!)

Gracie........what you say is true..........there is no way new sellers can learn everything before they list.....and even if EVERYTHING was spelled out, some/most wouldn't read/understand some of it.
The hold thing is pretty spelled out, at least it was when I started over..
That said..........everything in life is a learning experience.......and the experiences are not always pleasant......how one reacts to them, in some ways, determines how successful you will be in whatever is happening....... Most fall off bikes, some skin a knee, some break a leg........IF you continue to try to ride one, you may end up experiencing the pleasure of riding all your life; if you quit....because there's no one to teach you, it's too hard, it's too dangerous, etc.......you may never find out what you may be missing.
Certainly, Ebay isn't for everyone and I respect those who recognize they don't like the experience and quit..... But those who have the temerity to call Ebay and Paypal corrupt as a reason for leaving are over the top to me...........
just my opinion.......
