Hi,
I never have more than 20 or so listings (all Buy it Now) going at any given time, and I sell maybe one item per week. I haven’t re-listed any of my expired items yet until I sort this out...
I’ve never used GTC, but I had thought that as long as you listed less than 50 items per month, GTC wouldn’t charge you a re-listing fee.
1) Is that correct?
2) Does this change with the new policy?
For what it’s worth, I don’t like this mandate by eBay either. Having to manually cancel a bunch of your listings in order to avoid a fee will be needlessly time-consuming for those having to do that. I also liked being able to list different items for different durations. I don’t want to have to switch over to auctions.

As long as you don't exceed the 50 free listings each month, you won't be charged. The problem to some is that if you list 50 this month, unless some/all are canceled before being auto relisted, those 50 will use up all your free listings for next and succeeding months.......

You are charged if your free listings are used up...and it does count as listing against those...and you have to watch even if you are given extra free listings ...make sure you read the particulars...some promotions dont cover relists...

You are in good shape. Just let 'em relist as GTC and end them when you sell out.

I just bought your book, The Crusades.

as long as it's not a month with 31 days...

It doesn't happen on every month with 31 days. It will depend on when you started the listing. What day of the month and then when that date +30 days, what it lands on in subsequent months.
HOWEVER, this is a short term issue. Ebay has announced they will have a resolution for this in May. We don't yet know what that resolution will be, but it is coming in may.
So to avoid having anything double list in a calendar month with 31 days [May], do NOT list on April 1st or 2nd. A short term fix as in May will come the fix.
This problem has been really blown up by those that aren't use to using GTC listings. For those of us that have used them for years, it is a non issue. But those that are being forced into using these types of FP listings, it has been stated to be a huge problem. For the most part, it takes a couple years or more for a listing to hit a month where it will double list.
Here is a link so you can play with posting dates for yourself and see what will transpire.

Hey hey thanks! I should post in the forums more often - maybe that’s one way to get more people to check out my listings!

Ok, this all makes sense. Thanks everyone for replying!
Glad I will probably not be affected. Still, I feel for those who aren't happy about this change.

You are welcome, should be a good read.

It is never a non issue when control of your listing is reduced....and options are limited..

I think you misunderstood what I posted. I did not say or imply that the recent change to GTC was a "non issue". I would not say that as it simply is not true. It is an issue for many sellers. An important, serious issue.
The 30 day renewal period is what will be a non issue shortly. Ebay says they will have a fix for that in May. So as long as you don't post any new GTC listings on April 1st or 2nd, you will NOT run into a month of double listings. A simple fix for a temporary issue.
