Good Afternoon! How do I give a buyer my address for local pick up????

Good afternoon fellow eBay sellers!

With the clamp down on eBay addressing outside sales and flagging telephone numbers and addresses, how do I share my address with a buyer that was sold as local pick up? They claim they do not have access to it?

Ty!

You should be able to get it by pulling their contact information.

Go to Advanced Search, and select Find Contact Information.

You will need the user I.D. and the item number.

I would just respond to the paypal sold reply which goes to their email address, or you can see their email address on paypal  page.........  just saves hassle....

If you have an address and name for the buyer, look it up on the internet

That works, too, IF the buyer paid with PayPal.

If you have completed a sale with a buyer eBay will not block your phone number in messages.

DON'T!

Agree to meet somewhere public.  Our town has a place at the local police station where a seller and buyer can meet.

I tried to buy something from a local seller and meet and he refused.  He did it once and was attacked.  He promised his family he would never meet anyone again.

The only good thing is that it was a Craigs List transaction and not on eBay.

You meet someone somewhere on a $100 item not a $6000 item!

I sold my Corvette and I had the buyer bring cash to my house.

We sat at my kitchen table for almost an hour to count and verify that the $28,500 was not counterfeit and all there.

I had not a single worry in the world, we were on MY turf. . .

There's really no good answer to this.

Ebay doesn't particularly like LPU anyway, so they could take their time providing an answer.

That is how it is supposed to work.

Re: Good Afternoon! How do I give a buyer my address for local pick up????

The "how to communicate address/phone number for local pickup only" was recently discussed on another thread ~ this is Trinton's response:

So I called ebay "support" and asked them what the protocal was for completing a "local pickup only" transaction....  They don't know.

Hey everyone, happy to give some next steps on this. A seller can provide a customer service phone number to their buyers by inputting this information within their account settings. You will need to make sure your account is set up as a Business Account under "Personal Information" in your Account settings. From there you can go to "Manage communication with buyers" and select Edit to the right of "What your buyers can do" about three-fourths of the way down the page. From there, you can input a customer service number on the next screen that buyers will be provided when they try to contact a seller after purchase. This will allow you and the buyer work out a meeting time and location for the item they purchased.

Addtionally, I want to clarify that we review any concerns of an off site sale and would be able to see that this was a local pickup situation, so there is nothing to worry about. Certain words or phrases can trigger our automated email, however no action is taken until a manual review of the details is performed.

This is good information to know, however, in another thread, eBay Heidi stressed the fact that in order for the transaction to be inelligible for an INR claim, eBay would have to see the "details" of arranging a meeting place through eBay messages, so a bit confusing, no?  eBay Heidi's post from
a Wed. Chat:

"Hi @hidy-hoo - While an item that can be inspected at the time of pickup isn't eligible for SNAD coverage, a buyer would be protected if the item required to be taken home to test it's functionality. Also, if a seller were to accept returns on a local pickup item the buyer would be covered.

"INR protection would only be applicable if we weren't able to see arrangements were made. "

If they haven't paid yet you won't get info from PayPal and you might've to google it. You can't even send a message via Ebay saying you will send them an email as they will not forward that simple innocent message. Ebay is messed. You might be surprised if you send them an email that they don't open it up because they don't recognize you. Say something like "contact info to pick up Ebay purchase" so they notice it. I call people on the phone and have found that more effective.

How clear is it to the buyer where to find this telephone number? Or is it buried?

I went to a recent purchase to see what I could find.

Found no trace of this phone number.

Did find the usual "I have a question about using my item or I want to send the seller a message".

It's not a real solution.

If you do reply, you will be given an off-ebay strike, but no immediate penalty.

The next time, you will be penalized, but if you call CS, they'll probably rescind the penalty.

It's not a real solution.
