Here's your chance to voice your opinion. I'd appreciate it if before you describe why you dislike GTC you begin with NO WAY or if you're one of the very few who has no issue with it please start with OK. It just makes it easier to see what the percentage is.

But I don't want everything re-listing every month. I've found that using some simple investigative work allows me to get things listed when something is hot. I also like the idea of "hands-on" when items relist, to keep myself in check in case there's an error or something like that. I've never seen any advantage to simply relisting everything every month, been there, tried that. Either way, I believe you should be able to choose what fits better into your schedule. I'm currently unloading and getting ready to bail.

Then you’ll miss the “ending soonest” boost.
If you wrap/prepare items when you list, shipping is a breeze. You can even have USPS pick up so long as one item is Priority. Anything small you can zip by the PO and drop in their mailbox.

I do have some of my items partially prepared when listed, just need a packing slip and shipping label. I just don't have room to have boxes everywhere. Since I work nights having pickup isn't an option since I am trying to sleep during regular business hours. I have dropped small items off in the lobby mailbox, the problem with that is they don't always get scanned in right away. I have even had items not get scanned until delivery. I just don't appreciate the fact that Ebay is now telling me what I am listing, because if an item automatically relists that is what's happening. I like to change my listings and make new items available. I also like to take a break from listing when I have a lot going on, so this means I will be ending listings early.

OK with me - I have a lot of long tail items (this is my little clearance store ID, which I haven't stocked again yet, but I have a larger store on another ID). I've used GTC and found it to be no problem.
If I decide that something has run long enough, I simply end it and keep it in unsolds until I decide to tweak and relist. We'll be getting a metric that tells us how long something has been running, and that's a good guide. Otherwise, it can auto-relist on GTC for maybe 90 days (three listings) then I'll pull and revamp - save me the trouble of relist. Once the days listed metric is in place, I can just run down the list and work with that. According to one of the eBay Execs - I think it was on the Podcast about GTC, the listing will get a slight boost at the 30 day mark.
After working with it, I think a lot of people will find their own various ways. But I'm not seeing the wolf breaking down my door over it (I don't have deep pockets, honest, I'm just a regular small table-top type seller with a tiny story of 100 items (soon) and small store of maybe 300-350).

I have a "Basic" Store. If I were to list all 250 of my Fixed Price Listings on the 1st of each month, that means they would auto-renew on the 31st of the month (those months that had 31 days). Ebay clearly states after 30 days, not 31 days, they will auto-renew. This means I would be charged an extra $62.50 (25 cents X 250) that month in listing fees, assuming none of the items listed, sold. I should have the option to let those unsold items to sit in the "Unsold" list, so I could relist them again on the 1st of the month. Then, I wouldn't have to pay $62.50 for 1 day of listings.
Sometimes, Ebay offers "Free listings". That will really make keeping track of things difficult, because they will probably auto-renew the next month and possibly trigger 25 cents charges, also. Are times really that hard at Ebay, where they have to resort to sneaky tactics?! I've never had a big issue with Ebay, UNTIL NOW!

No way. I am running 250 + or-. I have 50 free then I wait for a promotion and list more. With this new deal, I guess the first 50 will list free and they will charge me $.35 for the other 200. I sell things like fabric and patterns. Any given item will be on for months before the right person sees so I could easily pay more in listing fees then I make. And another thing, if you have a problem with buyer, ebay doesn't care about side. even if try to contact them, they just don't care about us!

No way. I refuse to use GTC so I guess I'm going to have to use Auction style only, at least until I shift to a non-eBay alternative. I will have fewer listings, and I will shift them to somewhere else. I don't want eBay automatically relisting my items every 30 days and charging me fees if I don't have any free listings.

NO WAY
It seems like a good thing for store users but not for every ebay seller. One size does not fit all and we should have the choices that have now been taken away. I use my 50 each month plus what ever other bonus offers i get. Now I have to watch my end dates closely to avoid letting them automatically relist, or just use auction format. It's obvious why this change was made. As a long time user I've seen many changes on this site that benefit the company far more than the users.

I think you are mistaken. I have not used GTC because I have a very small amount of off items. I list 50 or so items per month and if some don't sell I relist them and I pay $0 list fees because Ebay does not charge list fees for 50 items. I was very happy with the arrangement. Now I have to make sure to monitor the end date of the items and end whatever did not sell before 30 day mark to avoid being hit with the list fee. Ebay is relying on people to forget to do THAT. Plain and simple. Greediness. I am moving on from Ebay. Not worth payin list fee for $12 item.

I almost hate to state the obvious............
Don't start listing on the 1st of the month, start them later in the month and they can renew for YEARS before you will get hit twice in the same month.
Somebody else ran the numbers, if you start the listing at the end of the month it would take 5 or 6 YEARS before double billing in a month could happen.
Tracking ending dates is SIMPLE, just sort your running listings by date and select the ones you want to end. Even if you have thousands of listings it's something that only takes a few minutes and you would only need to do it a few times a month at most.

That must be new(ish)? I’m guessing it happened during my 5 year gap?
