GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I have never posted a thread before until now. This idea has to be one of EBAY's worst ever.

we constantly are running 7 and 10 days auctions and re-listing them. Simply because of the

fact that people see an item, put it in their watch list, and we always get lots of action the last

24-48 hours before it ends. And if they miss it, sometimes they come back to the new listing

when we start it back up. WOW, this is a really dumb idea.....do you hear me EBAY??

Please send some feedback, whether you agree or not....I'm talking to sellers like me.

Thank you!        P.S.         I could live with -one-  other option like 10 day or 15 day.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Like you guys I have never posted before. But this call from Ebay is below the belt!

This is just a catch you out with free listings greed! which they rotate every 30 days so the the title should read GTC with a 30 day charge.

I've had to end all my listings and will now list one item at a time for a 10 day rotation.

Having asked the question direct try this ....

There is no limits to the number of ebay accounts you can have. Create a new Ebay account and a new email address to link it to. Every account has a 1000 free listings.

Ebay you have once again shown your greed!

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Looks like Ebay is getting very very greedy! Forcing GTC is killing my business on Ebay. They don't like it when someone like me uses our 50 free listings and doesn't go over. So when they offer 100 free listings I can no longer accept them because that will put me over my 50 free listings each months. Apparently taking a commission on every sale isn't enough! That makes things cost too much to list more than 50 products at a time. Thanks for paying attention to the sellers needs Ebay! Time to move to another selling platform.

I definitely agree can I sell a sweater or snow shovel or x-mas ornaments in May, June, July . It should be my choice if and what and when I relist a product leave what I want in the unsold category this extremely unfair please reconsider there is no ebay without sellers

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Sorry if this has been asked before, as I didn't read the whole thread, BUT....

It used to be touted that the 30 day Fixed Price listing was the 'best' to use, since the Cassini algorithm that is used here on eBay apparently 'stores' the items 'history'.  Which means it keeps track of how many times someone looked at the item, but didn't purchase it, which lowered the item in the search standings.

I'm 99.9% sure that there used to be a tutorial on here from some big wig on eBay himself (sorry, I don't pay attention to who's who in charge), explaining how to sell better on here, and stating that using 30 day Fixed Price listings were the best to keep listings fresh, and higher up in search standings.

Personally, I've always used GTC, as I'm WAY too lazy to babysit my listings.  However, I'm wondering why the sudden change of heart with the eBay staff, team, programmers, wizards, guessers, or whatever they call themselves.  I find this VERY interesting.  But to all who have used the 30 day Fixed Price, I am sorry that you now have to deal with this, no doubt it's a real PITA Smiley Sad

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I was charged for items that were put on my list without my consent, now Ebay takes away the freedom to choose what you want to sell? I have no more time in the day to see one by one which will expire 30 days, I have many items that I prefer to put and time is what I need ... What happens with Ebay? It is not enough that we charge fees for shipping, reduce the sales discount from 30% to 10%, that oblige us to accept a return of the item, no matter what the reason we have to pay for the returned label? sellers can not leave negative feedback, accept returns from bad buyers who invent that the "item is not as described", just to receive their full refund? etc etc? What they pretend??

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS EBAY HAS EVER DONE.  I wish you would return to the option to relist for the 30 day option.  I would reevaluate the listing  after 30 days and decide if I wanted to relist.   Now if I have reached my monthly free listings  ebay automatically relists GTC and I am charged an insertion fee of .30  each time an item is automatically listed.  I am a small time seller and those insertion fees really add up.  This  makes tons more work for me and is costly. EBAY  WANTS TO TELL US HOW LONG WE CAN LIST AN ITEM. This is getting ridiculous.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

Since it takes way too much time for smaller sellers who work full time regular jobs to keep unlisting before the 30 day listing ends to avoid listing fees every 30 days, we are going to just try auction style which will give us the email reminder & we can relist then or wait until we are ready to relist. This is the stupidest decision Ebay could have made.

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

I agree completely

Do you think, if ever, Ebay will figure out that their attempt to get more in listing fees will only decreases their revenue in sales way more that they are gaining in listing fees??

Re: GOOD TIL CANCELED A VERY BAD IDEA

It's strange why a company could EVER see GTC as being a good idea.

Yes it will generate more income for them in the immediate future, but the sellers will definitely 'jump ship' when their contract is up. (I know that I will, and IF eBay had the decency to reply to me, I'd be gone NOW!)

Yes their current profits are sky-rocketing, because of their greed, but they soon will have it bite them in the a--.

When a 'party' that has offered a contract for a year, can change the terms of the contract on a whim, the contract should be cancelled.

I am currently trying to do that, but eBay will NOT respond to my request.

I could not agree more. Now that the Gestapo Screwball is gone , maybe those of us who were 'booted' off for no real good reason and with 'perfect' FEEDBACK for over 8 years with almost 600 replies can get back on...!!
