Would informing buyers of seller cost be a violation of Ebay policy if added to the

bottom of description on listings/templates?

Not sure about in violation of policy, but I really don't think it's a good idea.  *Every* business has selling costs and we don't see this type of information on any other marketplace or selling platform.

Not a violation, but why?  Are you also going to put in shrink, postage, labor costs, gas, and proportion of eBay store fees?

Not against policy that I know of, but not a good idea.  Buyers would then come to the conclusion that you are making a PROFIT (Oh, the horror!) and then decide you are ripping them off because you actually want them to pay more than your expenses.  Millions of buyers think you should be just trying to get rid of stuff and they should be the beneficiaries of getting items at a super bargain that leaves the seller in the hole.  Other buyers would be annoyed/turned off at seeing this and would move on to another seller.  You don't have to justify your prices, they are what they are.  On the other hand, you do have to be competitive with other sellers of the same products/categories because buyers do compare.

Buyer don't care what your costs are.

They are concerned with what their cost is.

It isn't a violation. This info is posted in one of eBay's help articles and is public knowledge.

Here is the link:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4364&st=12&pos=1&query=Selli...

But, really, no buyer cares what your costs are, they are just looking for items they need or want at a good deal and what auctions saves them the most money. So why bother?

If I came across your auction and saw this I would think it wasn't very professional.  I would probably move on to another seller. That is just my opinion and as a long time seller here I have never seen any auction listing that posted this info.

I do undertsand your motive, just not a good idea to add to your listing.

Really bad idea.  This would annoy potential buyers for several reasons.

I do not believe it violates policy, but I can't see any point in doing that.

In fact, I think it would be counter-productive and make buyers wonder if it might be available somewhere else for 12.35% + 30 cents less.

Bad idea

Does your local grocery store tell you their labor costs, inventory investment and rent?

Would you even care if they did?

What do you mean, seller pays Ebay state sales tax? Is this true? Doesn't the buyer pay for that?

Under Managed Payment Policy Ebay fee (12.35%) is charged not just on item selling price and shipping but on state sales tax as well... that is what the seller pays. Buyer still pays sales tax but Seller pays Ebay fee on it, and it varies from state to state

It doesn't violate policy. I'm intrigued... what benefit do you think you'll receive from it?
