Fees

Check Yours fees!  With 25,000 feedback. We have reduced our selling on eBay for the following reason. We are now charged 35p for each item we list. If we sell an item for say £10.00 with free postage - We lose 35p listing £1.00 selling and paypal 54p £1.89! with our postage costs - approx. £2.50 or more gone - 25% in costs  - is it really worth it now? - the greed is astounding! - Yes, I have a choice and this is to reduce selling and end our freindship with eBay/paypal - This we will do.  Check your fees!

Re: Fees

same here. I am getting charged an extra 4% fee on top of my 10% fee because i didnt restock my items quick enough in good till canceled auction. Ebay is becoming the biggest scam on the web. im surprised the big shot lawyers havent caught on to this bullying and have not agreed to start a class action lawsuit against ebay. They are bullying well established small businesses that started there selling ventures here on ebay and then trap them into bigger fees. WHERE ARE ALL THE BIG SHOT LAWYERS???? Come and get ebay and make them pay!!!

Re: Fees

add 40p to the listing price.

perform at the required level agreed to in the UA to avoid problems.

All sellers must be held to the same standards.

Re: Fees

So if Ebay wants higher fees they're greedy. If you want lower fees and to keep more money that's not greedy, it's just good business?

Yep, selling a $2+ item can seem worthless if you want to make money........

Re: Fees

@ashleyshobbies  With respect, when a seller is out of stock but their items are still listed as avaiable it is THEIR FAULT. Good customer service is providing the paid item as promised. It's a BIG defect to ebay and the seller is obviously below standard.

I am primarily a seller and have never been OOS. My buyers deserve what I offer and get paid for.

Re: Fees

I closed my auction because my item was out of stock. Therefore they put that against me for closing the auction early. I didn't have an issue with a buyer who purchased a product on an active listing and i told him or her that this item is out of stock. Basically they are trying to nickel and dime sellers for every little thing based on there made up policies. It's a strategy that everytime Ebay comes up with a new policy every month or so and it's always against the sellers. I don't mind paying 10% fees at all. But when you start adding other percentages for other ridicouls reasons...I call it fraud. The biggest scam Ebay pulls off is charging fees on top of your shipping fees. That's your money for shipping purposes..not there's. Ebays stock value has fallen big time and will continue to fall in the next few years if they continue this practice. Good luck to you

When a seller goes Below Standard, they are charge 4% more, 14%, for final value fees.  It's not a scam.  It's a sanction for going Below Standard.  In  previous years, they just booted you.  This gives you a chance to get out of Below Standard, but you have to move quickly and sell a lot before the next evaluation on the 20th.  If you manage to get back up to Above Standard before the 20th, your fees will drop to 10% again.  If not, you could be gone.

It's Ebay's site and they are allowed to make the rules.

With all due respect, let me explain here as there are some misconceptions.

It's not a fee for a ridiculous reason.  Buyers hate when a seller is out of stock, and so does Ebay.  You let down a buyer who bought your item, and that causes buyers to leave Ebay.  If they wanted a refund, they wouldn't have bought your item.  Not having the item the buyer bought is fraud.  You said it was available, then you told them it wasn't.  Before Ebay just booted the seller, now they have them pay a higher fee and give them a chance to work themselves out of the hole to being an acceptable seller.

Sellers were listing items that were say, $25.00 with $15.00 shipping as say, $3.00 with $37.00 shipping, to avoid paying fees.  They moved most of the item cost to the shipping and cheated Ebay of fees; this was known as fee avoidance.  So to eliminate this, Ebay went to charging fees on shipping, too.

Your feedback left for others violates ebay policy.

Oh my goodness, yes it does. Wow.

OP do you know how bad your feedback left makes you look? The fact that they are like 10% "Thank you" comments and the rest are all bashing the buyer for whatever issue you have with them. You certainly do have a lot of problem buyers.

The lawyers are probably aware that this is Ebay's site and that they have every right to charge a penalty when a seller doesn't perform properly and fails to meet Ebay standards, and that you agreed to these policies when you decided to list your items.
