I have been a Ebay seller mostly and also a buyer for a very long time . And have allways left positive feedback on purchased items . I am sick and tired of selling items and buyers don't leave feedback . I am not going to leave anymore feedback to anymore of my sales unless Ebay can inform buyers to do the same .

Having the money is good enough for me. I would never solict feedback. It's like opening a pandora's carton of leftover chinese food.

There are sellers who only leave feedback when the buyer does. Maybe that would work better in your case. Do you put in a thank you for your purchase please leave positive feedback note in your items when you send them? Do you reach out to buyers at point of sale?

Your message is puzzling to me. You have been here long enough to know that FB is optional for both buyers and sellers, not mandatory/required.
Furthermore, you have enough FB as a seller to assure others that you're a good seller.
It's your choice, and anyone else's as well, to leave it or not.

I do understand what your saying, it's like the final end of the EBay transaction. You like to hear how your buyer received your package, do they enjoy it and we're they pleased. I feel the same way.
Unfortunate todays customer is too busy, just doesn't care and cannot be bothered by leaving feedback and it is their choice. Please reconsider and continue to leave feedback as you always have, it just shows you still care about your transactions. Best to you.

I've found seller feedback to become fewer and far between as years go by. Not long ago I received about 30%, before that it was easily 50%, now I'm down to 10% at best. Doesn't seem to matter if I leave feedback for the buyer first or not.
As a buyer I normally always leave feedback, no matter if the seller leaves it for me or not.
I know many sellers feel feedback doesn't matter, but it will if you don't have much and your suddenly negged. It's then the seller pos % can drop like a rock if you don't have enough positives to prop it up in the last 12 months. This in turn can cause your sales to drop like a rock!

This is a retail business; selling here as a seller means YOU have to say Thank You etc. They buyer does not.

We put in a thank you card into every order. Just a business card with our information and asking the customer to contact us first if there is a problem.
I do not have data to show if this has helped us, but we have received a few calls and emails when customers had problems. This likely saved us a few negative feedback.

As both a seller and a buyer I always leave feedback regardless of whether it is reciprocal or not. Like many I have notice a downward trend in the buyer feedback I receive a lot of which I attribute to a different generation of buyers. It bothers me a bit not just from an eBay perspective but from an overall social perspective but I will continue to do what I do because it's the right thing to do.

This isn't social media, this is a selling & buying platform. Sellers are here to sell items. Buyers are here to purchase items. That's as far as it goes, this isn't a make friends platform. Feedback is solely opinion based and completely not required. Your last sentence comes across as very childish and petty, and surprising for someone who has been around so long. You have built up more than enough FB already, if you never receive another you will be fine. Hopefully you will put these feelings aside and just concentrate on selling. Best of luck to you....

I'm pretty sure ebay does send a reminder. I actually wish they wouldn't.

Why do you care about optional feedback?

You say that until you run across that unbalanced buyer who leaves you a Negative because you didn't leave them feedback. Remember, you need buyers more than they need you.

Surely after all these years you realize feedback is voluntary. Or maybe not? Do you really think someone would not buy from you because you don’t have 1895? Once a sellers feedback hits 50 and the percentage shows 100% I don’t even look at it. You really think EBay is going to inform a buyer they MUST leave feedback? Smdh
