Fall Update

Wow, you found that fast. So cat's out of the bag a day early...

I don't see any surprises there. What am I missing?

I really don't see anything to complain about in the update, and you all know that if I'M not complaining, it can't be that bad.

Two things stick out to me.

1. Return label shipping credit for a faulty SNAD case which is good, but $6 limit? Most things ship for more than $6 so where is a $6 credit getting me on say a $30 shipment?

2. They are now charging to list on ebay motors when before you could list for free for your first 5 car/truck listings in a years time. Now its $25 minimum.

I almost dread these updates now and find myself holding my breath as I read through them in fear of what will be coming!  Thankfully this one doesn't seem to have any horrible changes for sellers.  I'm dreading the day I'm forced into Managed Payments, but at least it's nice to see a future change to include deducting USPS shipping label fees from pending payouts.

How does ebay know it's a faulty or fraudulent SNAD? Doesn't the seller have to prove it? I don't think ebay will just believe a seller because that's hearsay. Does ebay use algorithms to aggregate reports of a buyer?

"Removal of duplicate promoted and non-promoted listings in search "

non-promoted listings will be removed!
Looks like the "Promoted Listings" became officially, mandatory,
you can call it a new fee.

Why do you think promoted listings are now mandatory? What am I missing?

If ebay is going to remove duplicates of promoted listings, that would mean they would have to remove their OWN duplicate, the promoted listing.

Do you believe non promoted listings will always be beneath promoted listings now in search? It's a possibility....

Well, according to the Update:
"Removal of duplicate promoted and non-promoted listings in search"

it is written very clearly that non-promoted listings will be removed which means they will not be seen in the search results.
If you do not promote you will be removed and not shown in the search.

Doesn't "duplicate" mean the same exact listing, though?

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

That is not at all what this says. Please reread it to get a better idea of what it means. It is not a new fee in any way and does not make promotions mandatory.

Ok, I'm taking that "duplicate" wording literally. We already know that not all listings are shown to every user during search. "Duplicate" listings removed to me makes sense, as we are not allowed to create duplicate listings, well, unless you are a seller in a certain country with many many listings all the same with many many selling ID's....
