Anybody else experiencing this?.
FB Marketplace keeps getting more traction and orders keep coming in.
Posting items on eBay 1st used to be my priority and then I would leave the cheaper items for FB Marketplace but for the last 3,4 months, I have seen an steadily growth in demand and orders from FB Marketplace, so I am shifting my posting priorities..
FB is really appealing, not only because fees are way lower but it also seems more self regulated.

And they spam you to death!

@redmodelt wrote:Except for the local stuff I can look at, most all the stuff I see with shipping, I would not buy anyway from that site even if I needed it. Not enough information in the ad along with many ads show it is like $5 to ship from across the country!! (Really, $5 to ship a refrigerator!) Sorry but if FB wants to break into online selling, they have a long way to go. I have listed a couple of things on the Market Page, was a real pain to even correspond with potential buyers.
Yeah, local pickups are another issue.
I don't bother meeting in a safe place with a team of snipers anymore. Too much of a hassle. No shows. Late. Whatever. Can pick it up tomorrow at my house at this time? Great. But then you still gotta deal with them being late or not showing up at all and then ghosting you. Less of an issue if you have a B&M maybe.
But even me working at home and being a bit of a homebody, it can still be a pain to coordinate. It's like they don't know what to do after saying they want it and can come get it. Gotta practically interrogate them on a day and time. Makes the fees to slap a label on a box to get picked up or dropped off somewhere worth it to me.
And people listing stuff with descriptions, "Message me for price," is a bit of a pet peeve. Here's a picture with 25+ video games. No names or prices in the listing. Put in a little effort you schmuck!

The fees are low and it appears self regulated because it has a smaller reach. Just like eBay in the beginning.
The more it grows, the higher the fees will become and the more protection the buyers will have.

Facebook is on its way out too, use is down because people are sick of their censorship & data surveillance.
People cry about giving Ebay their SSN, do they willingly give it to Meta?

I wouldn't put anything on FB Marketplace. They changed their ad guidelines so that I can't target my demographics with words like Catholic, Christian, Jesus, God, etc., when that is exactly the market that would purchase my products. They are considered non-inclusive "trigger" words. Yet, their security seems really lax when it comes to other ads I see or even friends accounts that have been hacked. I don't trust them as a business partner of mine.
I do wish you well though and hope your sales go through the roof!

A lot of hate towards FB I see.
I don't really care about their view on politics or privacy policy, I don't post anything on FB, just use it as a selling platform.
All I care about, is how much money I am making and I AM TELLING YOU, the FB Marketplace is alive and
Thriving and I am telling you, AS A SELLER, your chances of getting screwed over by eBay are higher than FB'S
Numbers are self explanatory, bellow my payouts for the last 6 months and last 3 months from eBay and Facebook marketplace, these are net payouts after all the fees.
Pay close attention how the gap is closing , my sales on FB marketplace for the last 3 months are now more than half of those on eBay, up from being just a little bit over one third.
6 month eBay net payouts $62,191.03
6 month FB Marketplace net payouts $27,912.60
3 month eBay net payouts $29,213.45
3 month FB Marketplace net payouts $17,296.82
$17,296.82
$17,296.82
$17,296.82

I diversified across multiple platforms and forums long ago. Like you my one and only site used to be eBay but competition in the ecommerce marketplace has opened up so much in the last decade and even more so in the wake of the pandemic. Ebay not only constitutes about 20% of my sales and that number is dropping.
As with all the sites I list on each has their own pro's and con's and lovers and haters of the particular sites, another reason for the diversification but I am finding less and less buyers are flocking towards eBay as they once did. This is pretty obvious if you look at the eBay quarterly financial statements.
Other responders have mentioned no shows, scammers, spammers......... I contrast that to eBay and the non paying buyers, cancel requests, returns, scams, spammers......... Spammers are easy to deal with I simply filter my email to move anything from them to trash, I keep a BBL for a number of sites where there were issues and I will never sell to those individuals again. Similar to eBay's BBL. Sure most of the other sites I sell on by no means have the buyer base eBay has, at least for the moment, but buyer base means nothing if byers are not buying.
I consider both eBay and FB, along with several others, to be viable platforms/forums to list on. Too many issues and I simply move on from any site and find other alternatives.

Never registered on facebook and never will, but i have noticed that as a buyer i tend to find the stuff i am looking for on other sites and for cheaper.
