I am an Ebay top rated plus seller with a premium level store and 100 percent positive feedback.. I have actually decided to cancel my store as of April first. It is simply not worth paying for a store subscription to an E commerce site that is dictating to me how to sell my items. As a seller, leaving any items as good til cancelled removes the sense of urgency for any buyer to actually buy. Not only that, it places the longer standing items in a stagnant place where they are seen buy fewer potential buyers. For those reasons, I will be moving my store to a couple of other E commerce sites that are more seller friendly.

Unfortunately, I feel the same. I have been waiting these last few days of March to see if they walk back the GTC policy. I have almost 900 unused (now-GTC) fixed-price listings that I will leave on the table when I close my store, probably later today.
I paid a lot of my own bills with eBay, and made them a little money too, but nothing lasts forever. I've got all my goods moved to two other selling sites, I guess I'll still do the 50-auctions thing here if that stays reasonable.

I, TOO, am in the same boat as you, except on a MUCH lesser scale! 🙂
I've been on eBay for 19 years in April, and mostly I sell vintage watches, a few at a time. And, whereas, before this mess started on March 18th with the mandatory GTC listings, I would sometimes sell two or three items per day, or a few per week, NOW I have not had a SINGLE SALE, since the 18th, and it worries me greatly. I DID try calling eBay, TWICE now, but got nowhere with them. And, when I mentioned that I was thinking about ending my eBay Store subscription (Basic Store subscription, @ $21.95 per month), because it was no longer paying for itself, and I felt like I was being ripped off, well, you can imagine that they did NOT like comments that, and I was more or less "invited" to end my Store. But, they said that if I DID end the Store, that I would be hit with an 'early termination penalty', if I even TRIED to get out from under this mess. So, that's great, eBay....you've made it so that I have only used 51 of my allotted 250 so-called "free" listings, and probably won't be using any more before the month ends in two days, making this month's eBay Store a total bust, AND, you're going to make even MORE money off me, with an early termination penalty, assessed to my account? Sheesh!

I am sorry to hear so many of you deciding to close your eBay store.
Perhaps you will decide to continue on with a monthly store subscription instead of closing.
I used to operate an Anchor store. A couple of years ago I decided to downgrade to a Premium store and pay the slightly higher rate for a monthly store subscription. If the need arises, sickness or death, my store can be closed at any time without an early cancellation fee. Gives me peace of mind that I can continue on eBay in a mode that is comfortable for me but leave if necessary without the financial hit. Yes, I do pay a bit more monthly, but a couple of sales covers that amount.
I urge you to reconsider closing. While eBay has stated these changes are permanent, perhaps you can find a way to make it work for you.
Best wishes,
BJ

I'm getting my ducks in a row also, I've signed up to 3 different selling sites and I'm on go to make the change over anytime now.
I do want to see how it will affect my store level come April, if its what I'm thinking it will be, a total screw up, then I will cancel my store and just be a non store seller on ebay.
I'm so in hopes that they will change their mind on this GTC policy but I know I'm dreaming !

I have ended my subscriptions too. I had a Starter Store and a Basic Store with around 422 items (total). I got that number below 300 before ending my listings. I was paying a little more running it month to month simply in case I needed to stop for health reasons or another major change like the GTC. I was a seller for seven years. I enjoyed it, and I even miss it now, but there were simply too many changes in the past couple of years.

20 years on e-bay but this is the end of selling with a store. I have 3400 items in my e-bay stock but I am moving them off to other sites and will end my store May first as its just gotten to be to much of a mess here. First they loss 1000's of picture costing me hours and hours of unnecessary work, more more they tell me what's good for my business when they do not have a clue they do not even know how to set up a catalog of books , fiction in the text book section, signed limited in the cookbook section etc etc. I will inform my customers where they can buy from me when I leave as it is just as easy for them to buy someplace else. E-bay is outdated and poorly run with no customer service of any kind. I have over 30,000 items listed on the river with more going up daily and make more money with a much lower overhead and they are trying to improve things everyday not make them worst like on e-bay. There are many sites to list on and when more and more dealers move more stock to places like the ranch business on these sites will improve quickly. E-bay will find that overtime people with leave and with the new tax laws going into place many smaller dealers with just quit and move on to other things. E-bay is bleeding money and its shareholders know it but the people at the top could care less as they will get paid no matter what. Its a shame that so many works from e-bay will lose their jobs due to poor management. If you work for e-bay perhaps time to look elsewhere for employment as the ship is sinking.

I canceled my listings and will not list in April. After this next month I will decide if I will stay or if I will go. I will not list GTC

That sounds like a good plan. In my case, I will have to keep the store through end of September to avoid the early termination fee. eBay got what it wanted-small sellers to leave. It's been a great ride, but it's just not fun anymore. Good luck to all of you in whatever you decide to do!

I'm evaluating other options. Another annoyance of GTC is I store my items in parts bins and on shelves. Each week, I pull out what is going to be on sale and have them at the ready. When the 7 days were up I put them back. Now, the unsold GTC's are piling up!
I too agree that Buyer's no longer have a sense of urgency to purchase.
We'll get through April and see where it takes us, but the long-term goal is to seriously cut back or be gone. Haven't seen much in my category (Scale model train supplies & equipment) on other web sites that I like, though. Still looking.....
