My wife and I have separate accounts but both are over 20 years old and both have 100% feedback. Recently my wife sold a BRAND NEW Netgear Router for over $75. Brand new/in box. The buyer (who JUST opened their account and have 2 transactions) received the router. They emailed my wife wanting their money back stating that the router did not have the registering QR code on the bottom. The "supporting picture" they supplied was of a TOTALLY different router (it was also white...Netgear is BLACK). We looked up the serial number on the label they supplied and it was of a TOTALLY different brand/color/ manufacturer. My wife filed a dispute with Ebay indicating that the buyer was most likely a scam account. Ebay ruled in FAVOR of the BUYER!!!! Ebay has started a return process. Nope. After over 20 years and 100% perfect accounts, we quit. We will no longer use Ebay.

It start with ONE. Ebay made a poor judgment and lost two good members. If more people refuse to tolerate that system, Ebay will either become a better steward of their members or fail. Maybe other members are not in a position to do that but we are. If we experience egregious customer service, we discontinue being a customer.

You hit the nail on the head.

I feel even for for you than us! We are not "serious" members, just just use the system to sell the things we don't need or never used and also casually by things we cant find anywhere ese. Sounds like you are at a MUCH higher level than us...I am sorry for what YOU are going through. Its the same as us but at a much greater level.

I smell scam. Ebay did not logically review the situation before starting the return process.
Correct, eBay didn't logically look at it. An eBay bot automatically decided for them so a real human didn't have to spend any time on it. That's how claims work here now. First a bot decides (99.99% of the time in favor of the buyer) and then you appeal so a real person looks at it. If you get a rep that looks at it objectively, they will reverse it and send you your funds. Unfortunately the odds of getting a rep that looks at a case with an objective eye are about 50/50.
Still, if you guys have been selling for 20 years under two different accounts (40 years collectively) and this is the first time you have gotten hit by a scammer, you are extremely fortunate. Most seller get scammed at least a few times a year! I get scammed at least once a year and I still wouldn't close up shop because of it. That is just part of being a seller. Every store gets ripped off either by shoplifters if you have a real B&M store , by fraudulent CC chargebacks (both online or B&M) or by outright lying to an online rep. Heck when I was in construction being ripped off was just part of business and when it happened it was in the 10's of thousands of dollars most every time. A $75 rip off is nothing in comparison.

Thanks for the info.

This is sad.

Thank you for the kind words. It seems fewer and fewer people have the principles and the "spin" to stand up to "wrong". Thank YOU for being one!

Thank YOU for the kind and supporting words!

Trust me, my wife and I are NOT competition for anyone. Over 20+ years we have "hundreds" of transactions (about 50/50 buyer/seller), not THOUSANDS of transaction as some do. We're just not willing to tolerate a system does does not respect good members who, though the long term have proven to be respectful of the the process and others in the system. We really lose nothing but Goodwill and Salvation Army get some pretty good stuff now... and we get a small tax deduction.

Thanks for the comments but at this point we really no longer care. If we receive a "defect" on he account is a non issue. Closed account, no more Ebay...we move on with life and non longer mess with Ebay.

GOOD GOSH! That's terrible. Yep, that just our choice. We only let good things in our life. Ebay has provided a bad experience so we simply cut that out. Ebay is not a source of income, only a way to offload things we no longer need. Its not the money, its all about principle.

Sad.

True.

Its a sad place we live in...more and more each day.

we get a small tax deduction.
You might check on that........there were some changes in last several years.......
