I had a buyer who purchased two jewelry items from me in two different transactions. I listed the items as accurately as I could and posted clear pictures of them also. A few weeks after he received them, he opened up return requests saying that he questioned the authenticity of the items, requesting a authenticity card and stampings which were never mentioned in the description, nor do they even exist. He said that he would be willing to keep the items for a partial refund of 50%. I declined and told him that he could return the items even though I didn't feel that I was at fault. I approved this return request because I knew that if I didn't eBay would probably close it in the buyers favor anyway. This is what I learned from years of experience. Later, I went to my messages to search the case. I wrote the item term in the search term box and found out some new information. I had realized that this same buyer had messaged me months ago requesting to purchase these same items for a discounted price which I declined at the time. He purchased it months later at full price, starts a return request for authenticity and then offers to keep the item for the same discounted price he requested in messages months ago? This made me aggravated and I felt like this buyer was in violation of eBay's extortion policy somehow. I then decided that I should just escalate the other case because maybe I have a chance with seller extortion. I escalated the case and of course, it resulted in the buyers favor. At the end of the day, I have to take a $30 shipping loss for something I did absolutely nothing wrong as a seller and I did my absolute best to write the most accurate and detailed description. eBay does NOT care about its sellers. Point, Blank Period.

I am sorry this happened to you. I am dealing with a buyer who Libeled me by saying I am a scammer and that I pretended I was in the military. This person does not know me from Adam, complete lie. I contacted ebay and was told that ebay does not comment or get involved with feedback. In the feedback the person also told me if I do not send X item to them (not included in the sale ad) that she would leave this nasty feedback.
Ebay allows sellers to be extorted all the time. Many buyers know all they need to do is claim your item was/is defective and they will ask you for a 20-30% discount or they will return the item.
Even though it's the buyers paying for everything on ebay they do not care about us, we're just a cash box they can pull money out your cash box any time they want.

Why would any experienced seller refund a buyer before receiving back the return?
