Hi everyone, I read everywhere the selling limit for a new account is $500. However, when starting my seller account today I see that I only have a $200 limit. Is this unusual? Any insight would be greatly appreciated:)

There is not a 'set' amount; it varies.
You are not in the US; so that is probably 1 reason they are starting you lower/slower until you prove yourself to be a good honest seller.

The limit does vary. eBay has never said how they decide. It will increase as you make sales and gain feedback. Watch out, new sellers selling high value items attract scammers. I would start with low say under 25.00 items.

Good luck to you. Seems like a low limit, hopefully, you can secure a higher limit fairly soon.

Honestly, I find it absolutely stupid...
I can get $500 being the limit, but $200AUD is really **bleep** low...
People who have nothing to sell other than that one item are screwed it seems

Start by selling a lot of low priced things to get established. I sold CDs and DVDs. I bought them in lots at yard sales. I sold them mostly to just cover the shipping costs. But whatever you choose to do, make sure you are describing them correctly and shipping on time. Doing this over and over will quickly get you established as a good seller and the limits will raise.

I'm just trying to sell a camera I don't use anymore. Why does eBay think that I am a business and that I have "lower valued items" to sell? No, I want to sell my camera, not other random things from my house. This $200 limit makes no sense.

Ebay sets these limits to make sure that a new sellers focus is to become a trusted and honest seller, not to just sign on to make a quick buck or fast cash, especially if it's a pricey item. Sellers who start off selling high items are under Ebay's radar and they will restrict them if they feel it's necessary and ask to prove receipts for their merchandise they're selling. Because there is so much fraud and stolen items on Ebay, this limit had to be enforced.
Accumulate some sales and you can ask your limits to be lifted.
Good luck and Happy Selling

I'm not a 'seller', I never will be willing to sell multiple items on ebay. They are not catering to one-time sellers. While I understand their interests are to cater to long term sellers this is just an unnecessary hassle in my opinion. What can I possibly do to sell this bag? I have nothing else I can sell...

Also I'm an international seller which means selling low cost items to up my rating is not an option since the shipping costs to other countries is exorbitant. There is nothing I can do it seems..other resale apps do not cater to international sellers.
