One after another scammer from Israel

It used to be a decent low-risk country to deal with, and I sent quite a few package there without headache, but 2022 has one after another scammer from Israel.

Like today, I received an email from a buyer (feedback 3 and no fb left) asking me if I had another tracking number (first question), as she didn`t receive anything. Usually it is backwards - first "I didn`t receive", second (but why do you need second tracking if it shows as delivered? 😄 ) something else.

My first response was info from tracking: time of delivery (an hour before she sent me the email), and if she didn`t receive it, she needed to contact Israel Post. That didn`t make her to stop the scam, and she said that that number can`t be tracked on "her" website.

Here is what she planned to do: There are two numbers when a package sent by complicated logistics: ebay international, Ascendia/PirateShip, GSP, etc, and a buyer gets one with full tracking on ebay. However, the second number is for the destination country only (new labels with new tracking put either in the US at processing centers, or in the destination countries).

So, when this scammer received the package and compared the numbers, she saw that the package had a different number than what ebay has. That is why her first question was if I had another tracking number.

So, my reply to her last message that she couldn`t track the number (from ebay) on her site, I said that she can put the number from the package she received, and that number. Haven`t heard from her. Hopefully, she got the message. But I am fed up with scammers from Israel and blocking the location - something is going on there.

@beautifulbeauty2012

Sorry you have had a string of bad buyers from Israel.  Be certain to report each Buyer to e-Bay.

Appreciate your post - thinking about re-opening some international options amid all the current conflict constraints and Israel was not on our radar to think anything about.

Good luck, better sales await!  All the best!

I do report every scammer to ebay. I wish there was a database of all those e-scammers. Badbuyerlist.org is still a small one.

As far as the current constrains, most likely, Kazakhstan will be a new hub for Russian and Ukrainian sellers - for both shipping and receiving.

Good to know - thanks for the reminder.  Juat received 2 more going to a freight forwarder - makes 14 total freight forwarder ones in the past 7-8 days.

I wonder if the redirects from the Russia/Ukraine situation have anything to do with it?

I thought eBay Global Shipping program handled all of those issues since you did your part and got it to their distribution center?

I would turn off international shipping personally if I was still selling, it's too risky in Europe and east of at the moment.

On the listing I looked at, the OP is not using GSP, they're using Ebay international shipping or whatever it's called.  When you use that, the seller is still on the hook just like if they shipped on their own.  It does have $100 worth of insurance that you first have to wait 30 days to claim, etc. etc.

Global Shipping Program: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/global-shipping-program?id...

GSP covers transit issues, the other one doesn't.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Oh my goodness then. Thank you for this, that makes sense. Those eBay GSP changes were the best thing they ever added. Selling internationally before that ... was crazy and instances like this just confirm that.

No, those scammers have nothing to do with Russia/Ukraine, as well as the crime rate and highest inflation in 40 years in the US - it will be sure worse, but it was the prior record, and should be not written off from the epic failure of the current admin.

GSP is not the panacea. In some countries, such as Canada, GSP uses unreliable partner, and apparently, many stolen packages (or could be just the same scammers who use "two numbers" scam).

Nothing changed in my shipping - I don`t use GSP. I used ebay standard international until got fed up with lost packages, hard to get insurance ($18 for the lost package-still was a headache), or very slow processing time at sorting ebay facilities.

The only thing what changed are the buyers attitude -they want to scam the US sellers. I had a speculation that there is growing disrespect toward the US after Afghanistan "withdrawal" (Israel sure had the best laugh, as they fight with those who jumped on the planes and got no veto in the US). When I contacted one of a sellers who got scammed by my buyer, that also happened within the same timeframe.

It is my first time selling on Ebay and Israel is the one country I cannot ship to but I have gotten offers from buyers from there only, about 10 offers!

I suspect it might be one person that has created multiple profiles but the whole thing irks me.
