I've "thought" the date received in ebay messages were wrong at times....... that something showing received on a prior date did not show to me until several days afterwards. While perhaps trivial at times, it could create a problem in that if it shows received on the 15th, yet I don't see (checking messages each day) until the 20th. This is the one case that I can prove date received is incorrect...... Note the date sent on the 2nd pic (2/19)
@Anonymous
any way to "check" to see if there is some quirk in that received date is "off"?

Also, these bonus bucks messages will self-destruct, so moved this one to "My Folder 1" to test if it survives.

Hi, Dh. I would bring it up on today's general Chat. I, too, receive ebay messages late which affects dates promotional freebies start. Plus, on Feb 14 I received a promotion in messages for eBay Authenticate yet it said you had to opt in by close of business on January 31. 2019. And the promotion start date was September, 2018. So something is screwy. I just deleted it.

hi dhbooksds, if I'm understanding you correctly - I've been noticing this discrepancy for quite a long time, probably more than a year.
I check my eBay messages every day and often several times a day.
Sometimes a message dated one, two, even three days previously will pop up BELOW all of the others I've already opened. No, I did not "miss" it the previous day. It was not there. That is what I thought at first but careful observation shows "stale" messages do appear.
To me it messes with the natural order of things, I don't like it but as I don't know the explanation I ignore it.
Doesn't it seem somewhat along the lines of those people who tell you right to your face "I SENT you an email!" or "I left you a message!" when of course they did not. I'm confident I do not miss emails nor phone messages so now I see the caliber of their character. Great 😞 .

I often get new messages coming in below ones I have already received and opened, and there was someone who got a message dated one date four days later, and the message required action before such and such a date, but the message was received after that date.

That's odd! I'll get this reported. Thanks for letting us know about it, @dhbookds!

just an add on gripe about this.......... that message is gone.......no where to be found, and I did NOT remove or move it........
That shouldn't happen........if we get a message, it should stay in ebay messages until WE decide what to do with it...... I have no way of "proving" I got the message and, if I acted on it.......bought something, no way to show or check to see if I violated some rule within the offer if I don't get the promotional promise...........
Removing any message is a really bad policy in my opinion...........

Hi @dhbookds, we found that a large number of members would try to activate an offer after it had expired, get confused that the offer didn't work, and call customer support for help. To reduce this confusion, the messages are now removed once an offer expires. I definitely understand why it can also be confusing to have an offer message vanish, so I'll be sure to pass along your feedback. Thanks!

Maybe the solution is to leave the e-mail if the offer was activated, and delete the e-mail if the offer wasn't activated.
