Ebay is protecting a thief who stole my cards, admitted to selling them on ebay

This is one for the ages .. I never in my life thought that ebay would be this way . I had a person who stole 1000's of dollars of sports cards from . One of them was a 1/1 that I had listed on ebay . This guy has a record and their is a case number for this theft . He has even been charged in regards to the matter .

I have been selling on ebay for years and have nothing but good reviews . He just started selling on ebay less than a year ago ,,, coincidence ? His reviews are great because he is selling cards from my PC and also ones that I have listed ... he took all of the Burrow rookies, Josh Allen Rookies, MJ and Lebron and multiple autos .  When I called ebay and asked for their help they were so mean to me it was awful . They treated me like I was a lunatic . When I told them he was involving innocent people and that the stolen property would have to be returned the woman I spoke with said  "well we have the ebay guarantee so they will get their money back" .

Ebay said they would look into it .. they have not contacted me back for any information nor have they contacted the detective handling the case . Don't ever expect ebay to take this seriously because they don't want to .. it would be a loss of sales . I am an attorney and once the criminal matter is concluded I am going to address the matter with ebay civil court . I can prove multiple civil wrongs because they have a duty to me and their customers . EVERYONE beware ebay will not take the sale of stolen items seriously because they don't want to lose business nor pay people for their purchase of stolen goods . If anyone has any questions contact me directly or ask on this chat . I have absolutely nothing to hide . In closing every time I see a glowing review of one of my stolen items he sold it is heart wrenching .

Was this other seller your buyer at some point in the past? How did they steal your cards?

" I am an attorney "

Then you know how  to deal  with this in the courts.  Should a lawyer even be ranting about it in a public forum?

I totally sympathize with what you are saying.  This kind of thing, plus the pay-to-play garbage, is a huge reason eBay's reputation is in freefall.

It took me a year and dozens of hours of hard work to get a fraudster off here who was so easy to spot by anyone with any knowledge of art that it was breathtaking how long he got away with it, and how many hundreds of thousands of dollars he defrauded buyers of....all with a 100% feedback score!

I only finally succeeded in getting rid of the seller when I somehow actually got a V.P. at corporate to pick up and listen to me for ten minutes.  No one else below that level seemed to really care or have any power to deal with corruption.

I am sorry that eBay was mean to you, but it sounds like you have everything covered (not that I'd never give advice to a lawyer, in any event).  Good luck in the courts.

Why on Earth would eBay want to get involved in some theft case that is between you and the person you claim stole them from you?  If in fact it is your stolen merch being sold on eBay, how are you planning to prove that to eBay?  I'm sure eBay wants nothing to do with your detective, and how can you blame them for not getting back to you on a matter that is not in their lane?

Uh...eBay has been made aware that they are selling stolen material.  Unless they got some sp cial dispensation, that is a crime if they do nothing thing and don't shut it down.

As an attorney wouldn’t it be prudent for you to be reading the policies on how stolen property is handled on eBay?
And to follow the proper procedures in reporting the sale of stolen property ?

Just calling them isn’t going to do anything. Which brings me to ask…how is it you were able to “call eBay” ? When there hasn’t been a phone number available  since Covid to just call. They have to call you. If you called a number you found on the internet it wasn’t eBay.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this but you are going about it all wrong.
Go to the link I provided below. Scroll to the bottom to have a live chat or receive a call.

You will probably be asked to furnish a police report.

Uh....eBay doesn't sell anything except store subscriptions and packing supplies.  Sorry.

His reviews are great because he is selling cards from my PC and also ones that I have listed

I'm confused. How is he selling cards from your PC?  Are you saying that he is listing the same cards that you have and then having you send them to buyers?

...just marking a spot here to follow...

there are too many inconsistencies to draw a conclusion as to the platforms involvement......

Before we can help you find a way to resolve this, we need to understand the details of how the scammer got ahold of your items.

Did he buy thousands of dollars of goods from you and then pulled the “empty box” return scam? Or is he just listing items, using your pics and descriptions, trying to defraud unsuspecting buyers?

Hire a different attorney than your self is the best advice I can give on this mater.

OTHER WISE LET WHO EVER IS DOING THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION, HANDLE THE SITUATION. Do not interfere with this part. You can of course keep that group informed of what is going on.

As an attorney, you should know that he is innocent until proven guilty. Just because he has supposedly been charged doesn't make him guilty of the crime. There is a process.

And you still haven't enlightened us as to how he stole from you.

Why is it, you people are so quick to take shots at this man and try and act like eBay is OPENLY facilitating fraud and PROFITING off of it.

The exact same thing is happening to me right now,  buyer bought multiple cards from me in multiple transactions. I combined some and sent one out all by itself.  3 packages shipped the very same day.  The first, tracking shows delivered on the 20th.  After the first label was generated, my next 25 labels where affected by the non-uploading any tracking info at glitch effecting ebay standard envelope.  Known issue, open tech tickets  on multiple accounts.  This buyer/seller opens a INR on the other labels effected by the glitch, mind all labels where shipped at the same time and date.  I take a look at this guys seller account and what do I see, ALL OF MY CARDS HE OPENED INRs on he has newly listed for sale.
