Ebay does not protect sellers! I'm leaving ebay after 15 years.

This is more of a vent and a caution to those who wish to sell on ebay.

After 15 years of 100% positive feedback I got my first negative score today.

The short of it is: Buyer potentially damaged some collectable toys I shipped them then turned around and demanded a refund. When I reported the buyer, ebay didn't bother to contact me or investigate, they just told the buyer to return the toys and told me to issue a refund. Now I'm stuck with broken collectables I can't resell and I'm out the money.

I feel betrayed by ebay. I thought there would be better protections in place to protect sellers.

The nitty gritty details are not important since after browsing the forums for a bit it is clear I am not the only victim who has experienced similar treatment by ebay.

I'm pulling my last auction and will be refraining from selling on ebay ever again.

Beware if you sell on ebay, they will not protect you against shady buyers.

If i had a nickel for every angry seller who came here and claimed they were leaving ebay ..... i'd have about $17.   😉

Good luck to you in the future and stay safe.

I see only 4 feedbacks for you as a seller.

Only 1 is a positive..

Still, sorry you're having so much difficulty.

Please, please take care of yourself.  If you choose to stop selling here, okay, but remember, online sales, no matter where you go, if anywhere, there are still issues that arise and things to contend with.  One bad does not negate 15 years of good.

Most importantly, nothing....nothing is worth risking your own wellbeing to make a buck.  You have the right to your opinions and to vent.  I hope that you find your path and it is one that brings the things that you are looking for.

Life is a journey.

This is one of the reasons I hate companies turning into corporations.. it cannibalism the company from the inside out with scammy pracities and no customers comes first and all they ever care is the brain dead stockholders.

Well, you're talking to the wrong person here, I just had a seller do that to me and let me tell you how happy I am about it!!!  I am however pleased to find out that perhaps I too can leave feedback, I had figured it would be automatically removed, granted that may still be the case.

Selling isn't for everyone,  your seller feedback suggests that you would be better off pursuing an alternative line of work. Good luck.

Your feedback shows another Neg more than a year ago plus a Neutral. Plus there is this totally unenforceable term in your most recent listing:

'By purchasing the ebay items listed above you agree to accept all liability for the item/items once the item/items have left my possession. This means that I am absolved of liability for any damage, state of condition, or any other state of change to the item/items once item/items have been mailed. I do not accept returns or refunds. You purchase at your own risk.'

Your problems seem to be mostly self-inflicted.

Yes, definitely in the wrong business. Four sales in how many years? The results are not impressive and your disclaimers are totally off the wall for selling on eBay. Good luck to you, hopefully in another area of business.

If you take a picture of the way that you package or a video of the way that you package your item they can’t say that it came to them broken and they can’t get a refund for it .If you make it known in your refund like terms that you can’t get a refund if it’s broken or something like that

I don't blame you for pulling out.  I have had several similar issues with buyers.  You are right in saying that EBay doesn't protect sellers and every time I see Jordan Sweetnam's smiling face telling me how great they are I want to puke.  Bottom line is EBay is looking at bottom line and the best part is they don't have to deal with dissatisifed customers(sellers) and just ignore them.

All I can say is that I am sure we all have had a few bad customers throughout the years. I like to think that all the policies that’s protect buyers are also safeguards for us in that it has to be hard on here to be the best of the best in what you do. The safeguards for buyers ultimately protect all the businesses on here in a direct and indirect way. Indirect in that if there are bad sellers then they should be out of here rather quickly or we all would suffer from lack of business. BTW- I got 1 neg this week after 2 years of nothing but positive. I was miffed, becuase we all want to be as good as it gets here, but there may always be someone out there who you can not please. I responded to that feedback appropriately to let my other buyers know something about us that would still help us look good in their eyes. I hope you do not give up after all these years of being a fantastic seller.

That's a waste of time.

An item can be well packaged AND arrive damaged. Don't confuse being at fault for damaged items with being responsible for it. Sellers are responsible, they may or may not be at fault.

You have no way of knowing that your buyer damaged the items.  You may strongly feel that they did, but unless they told you that is what they did, you are only guessing and you may be wrong.

I'm sorry you feel so badly about this transaction, but you need to realize that buyers have the right to get what they pay for.
