I was on my store this morning to find ebay is adding regular search options to store navigation... don't see why it's needed, isn't this why we make store categories?

The problem is that the search box does not included an option to search within the description. So if people look for a word that is not in the title but is in the description, and there are no results, they abandon the site.

My Firefox browser does not show the new search box, Chrome does.

idk...i never used it, it's my store i know what's there...but i see your point and I guess it's on par with ebay's normal search then. But I'm on Chrome anyways and everything shows for me.

I think that's a pretty broad assumption.......of course if they are searching for something important like a brand, that should be in the title.
Just out of curiosity.........I search for "red" in a store and came up with a number of items which did not have red in the title. Might be interesting to test how search does work in a store........

Well I have to agree with you, I would not be happy either if this the format that my store is or will be shifted to as I have not checked yet.
I will say this, I clicked on your STORE through the DOOR and was directed to the normal looking store page with all your info. I see the big New SEARCH THIS STORE box at the top and on either side is 2 smaller tabs one saying "ALL CATEGORIES" and if I click on anything from that drop down it takes me OFF Your store completely. same! So I typed in "DONNER DOLL" in the large search THIS STORE and I was taken OFF your store and shown a ton of DONNER DOLL listings and the first one I clicked which I assumed would be yours is from ANOTHER SELLER! This is a HUGE PROBLEM!

I too see it when using Chrome, but not when using Firefox.

I did some testing while I browsed stores that had Christmas stuff.
Searching red pulled up items with red in the title, variation name, or item specifics. It did not pull up items with red if the word was in the description only and nowhere else.
Searching cocoa pulled up items with cocoa in the title, variation name or item specifics. It also pulled up items with chocolate in the title, variation name or item specifics.
There were, of course, a few stray results mixed in where I couldn't find a reference in the listing that went with my search term.
I also tried searching partial brand names- like when a brand name is two words I would search just the first word. If the brand is in the title then the listing comes up. If the brand is in the item specifics but not the title, then the listing won't come up unless you search the full brand name.
