OK, Is this for real? Ebay seems to be ditching Paypal for sellers and wanting to use my Bank Account to manage payments. Ebay wants my Bank Account information??? Forget IT Ebay!!! I am NOT (repeat NOT) giving you my Bank account info to manage my payments!! I have been perfectly happy with payments being made thru Paypal over the years and if ebay cannot continue this then I will move to another platform.
Please respond if you are in agreement!

You forgot to add one more to the list.

Excuse me? I gave my info to paypal BEFORE eBay ever owned them. Paypal has built customer trust over the years... eBay has built distrust. It was good for Paypal to separate from eBay.

No, it really isn't. I have sold on many sites and MP is no different than any other site in this regard. If the site processes payments, this is how it goes. You gave that info to Paypal back when you signed up there. Bank account, if you want to be paid they need it. SS number, it is required by federal law if you sell more than $600 in a year. There are only a couple of sites I know of that don't require it. One is scammer central and the other will most likely will requiring it very soon as they are starting to process payments.
Oh, and if you think nobody nefarious has your SS number, you are dreaming. I would put money on the fact that your SS number is in a dozen dark web databases up for sale if not more.

You mean the "Big A" where they also require your SS number and bank account number? Oh and if you are a new seller they also want proof of identity like a copy of your drivers license or passport.
As for buyer who despise sites, there is a huge number of buyers who despise "the big A". I'm a seller there and I won't even buy on "the big A". There will always be buyers and sellers who hate certain sites for whatever reason. That's nothing new.

The grass seems greener over at the big A, does it?
Time will tell.
It always does, until they have sold there for a while. Then they realize how brown the grass by the river really is.

Well you will be in a shock over at AMZ if you think eBay's return systems are harsh.
Yup, especially with the new refund at first scan system that is being implemented. At least on eBay you don't have to refund until you actually have the item back in your hand. Not on Amz. anymore.

I don't know why people keep trying to talk other sellers into staying if they don't want to. I can see clarifying a few points or offering some resources, but beyond that, why bother? It seems as pointless as the loud announcements that I'M LEAVING!!! and turns into a tussle of who gets to be 'right.'
Go or stay, up to you, who know best what you want to do.

Many Thanks to you and others for your feedback as it is positive and offers a good solution! I am not happy about it but will probably just open another bank account for ebay only selling as I checked with my bank and it will have no service fees. (Yeah!) I am a small seller too and do this as a hobby to get rid of things my kids wont want and trade them for other things I want.
Lets end this **bleep** session with some special shouts to those who thought enough to answer with only sarcasm.... as Aristophanes said "Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, and drunkenness sobered, but stupid lasts forever."

There is an advantage.... once you open the new bank account for eBay you can also use it to sell on another platform that uses Ayden.

When I first signed up for Ebay, I was told they never would send me a notice without my full name on it, and if I received one without it, it wasn't from them. I've noticed that this recent notice asking for my bank account info, etc. doesn't have my full name on it, but all of the other regular communication from Ebay does. So I wouldn't advise clicking on the link and providing any information. Something just isn't right about it.

If I understand E-Bay’s "Direct Payment” system correctly, the buyer can still pay via PayPal but the seller will no longer be responsible for any PayPal fees OR the 180 day Purchase Protection waiting period?

No, the buyer can still contest a purchase made thru Paypal OR a ccard company....most of which offer buyer protection for 180 days.......
