Hello, I have been on ebay for 20 years selling off and on. I opened my ebay stores in 2013 and have been having great sales until the last 2 1/2 years. Sales have been declining slowly and steady for the last year and a half. 2021 and 2022 have been horrible nothing but a downward spiral..
I have done updating, relisting, sell similar, new listings, new pics, updated coded listings, added promo, having sales 10%-15% off. new titles Nothing is giving.
I know my listings are not being found on the search results. I'm pretty much ghosted even though i can see them myself. No page impressions.. Not to mention china sellers are always at the top of the search results because of multiple never ending new accounts from the same seller and low prices.
This is it I'm calling it quits as the business has dwindled to $100 dollar weeks.
I sell industrial filtering media so the demand will be there. I keep reading how online shopping is down all around ebay, posh, mercari etc. This is an ebay issue. Looks like they are weeding out sellers quickly.
ebay sent me a message to try the new beta marketing campaign $500 off **bleep**! to get listings at the top of search results.
Anybody having a similar experience, I would like to hear from you.

Hello,
I am also having the same issues - little to no sales, less traffic on my items. Also, I have noticed that Ebay has been recommending super high Ad Fees for my listings. By the time an item is sold and shipped, Ebay is the only one making money. I am so frustrated. I am totally disgusted with Amazon, as well. - I haven't had a book sale in several months. Amazon also makes all the money on the sales.

Same here Late Oct and Nov have been out of the ordinary. Something is going on with Ebay. Are they ghosting our listings for a reason? This should be looked into, by someone that knows how. Are they doing this on purpose to try and make us us the new beta system? Its bad enough that we already pay to promote listings.

I would love to know the cross post service you used

I research a lot of items on terapeak. There aren't a lot of listings for most items I sell. The pattern I've been noticing is that the items I've been looking at have sold 1-2 a month up until May-July. Then nothing despite the fact that there are plenty of buying options. Something could be going on with eBay, though it doesn't seem too likely as I can find these items through search. Another possibility is the economy. The items I sell aren't necessities. I think I read that the average household is spending $400 a month more on food and gas. That's a big cut to a lot of people's budgets. The other thing I think has really impacted ebay sales is the postage increases over the last several years. Postage used to be an incidental part of an ebay purchase, now it has a greater impact whether it's charged separately or included in the purchase price.

We’re getting crushed. These may be our last days in business. Time to get a real job again. =0(

I thought is was just me. I’ve had 2 sales the last 2 weeks. That’s nuts. When I usually have 1k of sales a month.

What the OP said is true. Looking at my 30 day trend you can actually see the pattern.
I was hopeful that my sales had bottomed out and I could find some path to recovery....... certainly the last 30 days has not been stellar with a declining trend.
Everybody knows that something changed on the platform around May that drove views/clicks/sales into the toilet. For me August saw a 90% decline in sales......and an overall blended decline in sales in the 55% range.
Factoring in the trend since July 1, 2022 my sales have declined 65% overall.
Objectively what I have seen are issues with ebay search......... earlier in the year the search would suck in a broader range of results and now it returns complete garbage or very lmitied focused results that seem to be related to how you post your title on a listing.
I have posted competitive products on the site that simply dont get views even though they are the lowest price. If I copy a competitors listing title verbatum.......it can in some instances help.
Lastly......there have been some economic indicators regarding layoffs that should alarm many ebay sellers.
Amazon, Twitter, Meta (Facebook) have all had pretty massive layoffs in the last week. Ad revenue is down massively......which is a broader indicator of what might be coming.
When you look at ebay's performance their revenue gains have happened with "promoted items" which no matter which way you slice it.....are increased selling fees. When you look at the overall mix of promoting and fees (not to mention sky high freight rates) it's not uncommon to have a 20%+ selling fee and an overall 30%+ entire transaction cost.
Ebay's users have been flat for quite some time........which no matter how big of a rosy picture the CEO paints to the stockholders.....the performance of the platform has been quite dismal.

I've noticed a similar trend with my store. This summer was terrible, but started picking up significantly in Sept/Oct, then later that month dropped off again. My sales, impressions, etc have all dropped some 25% in the last month, despite regularly listing and despite my items generally appearing high in search results. I sell coins and toy cars and those seem to be fairly strong categories still, but there's still a decline. Side note: Can we PLEASE have variations enabled for coins and paper money? Please? UK sellers have it but US sellers don't 😞
I have moved some of my inventory over to Mercari, and I generally get more views over there and even sell some items that have been sitting on eBay for months. Of course that platform has it's own issues but not near the consistency eBay's been having lately.

I had a really horrible time starting mid October through the end of the month. I took some action - reviewing listings, new photos, listing new items, etc and things improved dramatically. I've made the decision to go back to the $60/mo store (something I had before but dropped last time sales tanked 5 years ago) and list like a madman. If I can get my listings to 3000 (from 1000 now) maybe I can up my sales more. That would be nice.

Someone forgot to tell the other platforms I'm selling on and my web site that the economy is slowing sales. I am kicken it there not so much here. I agree with OP sales has been declining for years.

I hear its all about the economy or another excuse every single time sales are slow, don't bieve me? Read post from the past few years. I've tried everything myself and refuse to give all my money to eBay. I have nice collectibles and vintage items, I have multiple sales runing at any given time, coupons promotions. I did hear that if you are promoting an item, it shows up at the bottom and not in organic. You would think it would show up in both, so I test this and switch promotions on and off. I only raised my promotion up to 3% recently and it still showed my organic was higher, so what is eBay doing with promoted listings? I refreshed my page, lowered prices, sent out store newsletters, did all my tasks. When I had a sale markdown with no best offers on those items, eBay was sending me task on those markdowns to offer discounts while they were already marked down, WTH? I contacted them and the agent asked me to send her a screenshot! Since when do sellers have to do the work of the agent when they can see everything from their end? Anyway, she also said refreshing doesn't help. Why would she say this? I reseach my prices and not just on eBay and I watch Dr.LoriV who is an appraiser on antiques, vintage and collectibles. If you need to learn more about what to search for or what items are worth, don't waste your money on Worthpoint that sucks up all pictures and prices from the internet and compairses them , go to youtube and watch a few of Dr.LoriV (s) videos or go to her website and research, binge watch or sign up for her newsletter. She also has classes online, but you have to get into them before they fill up. You're Welcome!

Please. Donald Trump inherited a ragingly strong economy from Obama. What did he do? He added almost $8 trillion to the deficit in just four years by vastly increasing spending and giving yet another large tax cut to the wealthy while trundling out the old republican homily about how voodoo "trickle down economics" would bolster the middle and working classes. Sure. He also pulled us out of several existing international trade agreements. He started trade wars with allied nations. He imposed stiff tariffs on international goods. He completely bungled the nation's response to COVID 19. He was the first president since Hoover to have negative job growth. I could go on and on and on...

Really, you're going to blame ebay's follies on Donald Trump? I actually had a slight upturn in eBay sales during the pandemic. If anything it has been since Biden took office that sales started spiraling down - really picking up steam the past six months. I don't much like either Trump or Biden - but ebay's problems are due to the ones running this company not the country.
